Former Trump senior advisor Christian Whiton has weighed in on why US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are at odds over their first head-to-head debate.
The Harris campaign is pushing for a debate to take place on ABC News but Trump says the ABC debate has been “terminated”.
Instead, the former US president is pushing for a Fox News debate with Ms Harris on September 4.
“I don't know why Harris is concerned,” Mr Whiton said.
“The two debate moderators who are proposed are considered very fair and frankly would throw some hard balls at Donald Trump.
“So I think Kamala Harris, they're trying to pull a Biden, they're trying to see if she can pull ahead in the polls with the help of the media and by not exposing yourself to the public except in very carefull circumstances. But if the polls aren't looking good ,I think that will push her out of desperation to accept a debate.”

I think they are afraid the snow flake would melt if there was a little heat.
She has seen all the ammo Trump has and knows she’s hopeless up against his points.

She needs the questions in advance. That way she can just regurgitate the scripted answers her team will prepare. And I don’t trust Fox not to give them to her. I would prefer no debate. Trump needs to set conditions he knows they won’t accept.
Trump has shackles on ABC right now, with a very big, very beautiful suit for libel. They would be hostile in a debate.
What a funny week it’s been. Kamala barking at his ankles saying he won’t debate, now running back into her safe space when he responded.
Making every attempt to hide her
Of course she doesn’t want to debate (loosely used) on Fox. She will feel much more confident of doing well on ABC since she will get all the questions beforehand and will be handled with kid gloves. Trump will be foolish to accept her terms, although I’m sure the RINO’s around him will urge him to do so.
