RFK Jr.’s campaign struggles with Harris in race
The Hill ^ | July 31, 2024 | Hanna Trudo

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign looks like it is in trouble with Vice President Harris as the likely Democratic nominee.

Kennedy is scrambling to keep the public’s attention — and struggling to keep his moribund presidential bid alive.

The independent candidate’s polling, prominent family and unpredictability have kept him on the watchlists of both parties.

But Harris’s ascent has coincided with cash woes and ballot-access concerns for the third-party insurgent. In another bad sign, Kennedy’s fiercest critics are starting to ignore him, suggesting they view him as less of a threat.

“He is a dysfunctional candidate,” said Michael Ceraso, a Democratic campaign strategist who suggested a number of things have harmed Kennedy in the last few weeks.

“The youth movement behind Gaza took a back seat to a terrible debate performance by the president, the assassination attempt of a former president, Dems turning on Biden,” said Ceraso. “RFK is irrelevant to all of this.”

Kennedy’s third-party bid was crafted largely on dissatisfaction with former President Trump, the GOP nominee, and President Biden, who ended his campaign last week and endorsed Harris. Now that the race has changed on the Democratic side, Kennedy has been robbed of one argument.

Democrats have always been suspicious of Kennedy’s motives, as he has targeted Trump less than Biden. He recently made headlines for a leaked call in which he appeared to agree with the former president about his prospects for success in November...

Kennedy has struggled to transfer his attacks on Biden to Harris...

A Wall Street Journal poll placed Kennedy at 4 percent, while a New York Times/ Siena College poll had him at 5 percent. He inched up 1 point in a Quinnipiac University survey to 6 percent — all lower than what he’s enjoyed in the past.

Apparently, Harris is an unstoppable juggernaut who is mowing down her opponents one by one. Today, RFK Jr is being destroyed by her masterful campaign. Tomorrow, she will triumph over Donald Trump. Or ... something like that.

One thing for sure is that West, Kennedy, and Stein subtract from the Harris column with minimal hurt to President Trump. A lot of the national polls don't include them because it makes Harris look stronger.

I didn’t read the whole article so forgive me if this was addressed.

What if Harris picks Kennedy as VP? Would he accept. Would it be a winning pairing?

If that’s the case then why is the North Carolina Democrat Party suing to get RFK Jr off the November ballot? The Harris bandwagon is no juggernaut. The wheels will come off of it as the campaign heats up. The American Democrat media won’t be able to duplicate the “basement” strategy for Harris as they did for Biden four years ago.

RFK Jr is almost at the point where he will have ballot access in all 50 state. Jill Stein and Cornel West have been blocked by the Democrat party in New York and Illinois. The Democrat party is trying to disqualify West signatures for ballot access in Georgia.

He should just support Trump and be done with it.

No. It would peeve a whole lot of people. Further, her puppetmasters won't accept a wildcard who is outside their control.

RFK Jr. will read the Hill, shake in his boots, and withdraw. Right?

If you look at the polling it’s rfk jr numbers who have plummeted which proves he took votes from Biden. Now with Harris in the race those same voters have dropped him and went back to her

Harris even being considered to being the President of the United States demonstrates just how bad the Opium and Fentanyl problem is in this third world crap hole.

I assume the Democrats implanted their spies in the Kennedy camp from the beginning to pull out when it would be beneficial to the Democrats.

You’ve been here for 10+ years. Folks with your seniority are not supposed to read the whole article. It’s Free Republic tradition. 👍

Kennedy is too much of a loose cannon. The Deep State puppet-masters would never allow it. Heck, they wouldn’t even give him a long-shot chance in the primaries.

Kennedy was never going to win or even get a significant amount of votes.

A few weeks ago answering a poll with RFK just meant you were complaining that you don’t like either candidate.

Now that Biden is out most of the Dem leaning voters who said RFK are saying Harris

Rep leaning voters who were saying RFK will mostly vote Trump because the alternative is Harris, not Kennedy.

RFKJr is smarter than that. I don’t know if he’s smart enough to drop out and endorse Trump, but that’s what he should do. He’s a liberal but is one Kennedy who loves his country.

Facts or gaslighting? The leftist media has got to do whatever it takes to keep their horizontal one upright in the polls.

Taking shots at Kennedy sorta tells me even Kennedy represents a threat to Harris. And rightfully so, if Kennedy does indeed become a third party candidate Harris will be in deeper dodo.

In a perfect world, where there is no election fraud, Harris would never run for President. Neither would Joe Biden.

He definitely got left in the dust with her coronation. My guess is they didn’t want to give him a chance to return to the party to challenge her.
