A RADICAL religious group has raised more than £3 million to buy an entire Scottish island, with the aim to create a closed community which practices sharia law.
On Sunday, the Daily Mail reported that the London-based preacher Sheikh Yasser al-Habib and his followers were in “advanced talks” to purchase the island of Torsa, in Argyll.
The 271-acre Torsa island, which is roughly 20 miles south of Oban, is currently being marketed by Savills, which is inviting offers of over £1,500,000.
Al-Habib is the founder of the Mahdi Servants Union (MSU), which runs military-style training camps and the Fadak Shia Islam TV channel from a private compound in the village of Fulmer, South Buckinghamshire. Sha The MSU has attacked multiple foreign embassies on religious grounds, including the Azerbaijani Embassy in August 2022, and the Saudi Arabian Embassy three months earlier.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said that the attack had been perpetrated by "radical religious group members," while the British embassy in Azerbaijan "condemned the actions of the protesters".
Fadak TV has been investigated by Ofcom on multiple occasions for inciting crime and disorder.
Al-Habib was granted asylum in the UK two decades ago after facing imprisonment in his native Kuwait for his religious views.
The Daily Mail reported that, in a video calling for donations to help buy Torsa, al-Habib says he will negotiate with the UK Government to allow Muslims “from all over the world” to get a visa to live in their new “homeland”.

Just because you buy a Scottish island does not mean you circumvent UK law/customs or jurisdiction the guy and his followers are not very bright.

If “Radical” Muslims begin buying up land within the UK and assert to living under their Sharia Law then it is just a matter of time before they build up an independent military force. Then the Island “hopping” begins.
This is a very bad precedent.
Do they plan on declaring their own sovereign country? You can’t do that just by buying land.
The main problem I see is that according to Google Maps, it’s only about 20 FEET away from the civilized world at its closest point.
They buy a little, have a population growth rate drastically higher than the surrounding natives, then start conquering and expanding

Not to worry, some are merely Marijuana “grow houses” and local Building & Zoning Departments will limit their development.

If it’s under sharia law, they will no doubt break a whole assortment of UK laws before then. Slavery, rapes, honor killings, kidnappings, etc. The question is, will the UK do anything about it?

The island looks unlivable. It is mostly barren with very few trees. If they build housing, there is no bridge or ferry to get there.
How will they survive with no electricity and running water? No toilets or sewage treatment to catch the waste. Sounds perfect for Islamist goat and sheep herders.

I have read that there is a place in the US where blacks are trying to live like their ancestors did in Africa. I would not be surprised if the moslems do the same for the US.

It is (or at least was) a great base to tour the west islands, Glen Coe and the chain of Lochs.
