Thousands of social media users have threatened to boycott the nascent Paris Olympics after its opening ceremony was widely panned on Friday.
Enraged viewers took to X where #boycottOlympics and #boycottParis2024 were seen trending over the course of the following day.
In particular, the appearance of a 'naked blue man' among a scene likened to the Last Supper angered many watching, especially Christians.
One wrote: 'What a disgraceful opening to the 2024 Olympics #BoycottOlympics.'
Another declared they 'didn't even care about the Olympics' but were now '100 per cent boycotting'.
'Why on earth would anyone push so much to offend as many Christians as possible? It’s insane that this kind of "show" even passed proposal stage. #BoycottOlympics.
'Respect Jesus Christ and reject any mockery of Jesus' Last Supper. Retweet if you stand with #BoycottOlympics.

I support the United States competitors (if, and only if THEY support the United States.) I do not blame OUR team for the icky French Last Supper insult.
If you do decide to watch, be prepared for tons (tons) of commercials, wayyy too much human interest stuff, and some interesting, and often exciting events.
I record, then watch later (squeezing out the commercials, unless I see one featuring a cute doggie.)

I don’t remember when I last watched the Olympics. (I think there was something about some “Spitz” guy winning seven medals.)
I haven’t watched one minute and I used to LOVE watching the Olympics Summer and Winter... When I saw it was on NBC I said, nope! No Olympics for me.
IMO, Comcast/NBC is a mortal enemy to America and I’ve been boycotting them for years now.
I won’t watch a single second of it. Which is no different than the last four decades.
How about the supposed wardrobe mishap right behind the poor child?
I’d like to say I won’t be watching due to this but haven’t watched since about 2000.
I downloaded 16 days of Glory all 4 ½ hours from youtube to watch and enjoy...that and world surfing league...something wholesome...

Can’t claim to be “boycotting” since I never intended to watch a single second of it anyway.
We watch the winter games sometimes because my wife likes the figure skating, but we refuse to watch hairy-legged men compete with the women so probably done there also.
There have been some very impressive openings in the past, but this year, with lebron james carrying the Flag was a complete turnoff for me and my wife.
The degenerate opening cancelled any further interest in the olympics.
It was political that they chose LeBron James. Why not pick someone who's playing badminton instead as the flag bearer?

I would not go to France now. Watching this TV crap is not for me.
