260 lbs is a very overweight person.
Two hundred and sixty pounds????
That is mind blowing.
Yes, it certainly is for any so-called crew member in the Air Force. We had the Air Force’s 20th Special Operations Squadron fly their faster choppers for us in 68-69. I flew with the senior FAC, an Air Force Major, when we inserted recon teams, we took reports from them, plus we got them extracted. Those 20th SOS pilots and crew were extremely well trained and brave. CPT. Jim Flemming received the CMH for saving one of our recon teams west of Duc Lap in Nov. 68. The team leader he saved was a 1LT then and a friend of mine. When I see those Gens on Biden’s staff, I wonder how they are still wearing uniforms when they are so obese?
That depends. I’ve known some “big ol’ boys” that carried that kind of weight very well. Helps that they were in the ‘quite tall’ category though.
We had a deputy group commander, who was referred to as “pushing the envelope“ whenever we saw him in his flight suit. Colonels ought to have the same standards as anybody else, but too often people aren’t willing to make them accountable.
I was going to say, “Was this person 7 feet tall?”
I dont think that is a healthy officer’s weight on any physical table anywhere.
260-pounds is more than the GBU-39 (SBD).
Take a 190 lb man, add the flight helmet O 2 mask, g-suit, emergency gear , and parachute, then 260 lbs is about right.
The problem is lack of training time , due to fiscal constraints.
260 lbs is a very overweight person.
= = =
In the article, the person is a ‘they’.
Is that a couple of 130 pounders, in the same seat?
