Rumors of Trump suffering buyer's remorse after choosing Vance as his 2024 running mate have been rampant since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely Democratic presidential nominee.
While Trump has publicly insisted that he is happy with Vance, saying the senator is "doing a fantastic job" and has been "very well received" by the public during a Fox News interview on Thursday, worries remain about whether the Ohio senator could be a liability for Republicans in November.
Paul Begala, who served as White House adviser and chief strategist during Clinton's successful 1992 campaign, suggested during a CNN appearance on Thursday night that Trump may decide to ditch Vance in favor of former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

There has been no movement in the polls and the VP selection was in place before Biden dropped out — so there are even more polls to see.
No change. The numbers are static — mostly because of the dominance of Independents. There are not enough of the two parties to have some “moderates” vacillating.
Nobody is changing their minds, certainly not over a VP pick.
When the Dems get desperate it will have to be via mass deportations and total closure of the border. Followed by demanding two terms limit on Senators and 4 terms limit on House, as their effort to drain the Swamp.
That’s one of only two hopes they could have. Either attack the issues that matter to Independents — or, inevitably, more assassination attempts.

I could see a scenario where Vance falls on his sword and takes himself out of the race. Shame too, because I like Vance.
But Trump needs to win. He needs to get the vibes back. If it can be effectively demonstrated that JD Vance is a drag on the ticket, he'll need to go.
Swapping him out on Day One of the DNC would be interesting timing.
