Gov. Gavin Newsom is ordering state agencies to begin sweeping homeless encampments on public property, using newfound authority after the U.S. Supreme Courtโs OK last month. In an executive order expected to be issued Thursday morning, the governor directs agencies to remove encampments that pose a risk to โlife, health and safety.โ
The order could impact tens of thousands of people living in tent encampments across California. The latest count showed roughly 180,000 people in the state were living without shelter on any given night.
The Newsom administration has invested $24 billion in recent years to try to shrink that number but it has only grown.
State agencies are urged to partner with local governments to facilitate shelter and other supportive services before removing encampments.

Just beginning.
LMAO
time to start running for office! and finally doing your job!
Shocking! Demonrats are slow on the uptake. ๐๐๐๐๐
Great! Relocate them to??????????? What places are they going to ruin next?
Suburbs. Were always the next targets.
Yep, the timing here is no coincidence and supports your theory.
Let me just say this: The longer you let a mess pile up, the harder it’s going to be to clean it up. You can clean up spilled milk immediately, or you can wait until it dries and hardens and have to scrape it up.
They are now literally trying to rout a large subculture. This is gonna leave a mark. Portland has the same problem, though not as bad.
We had a homeless encampment under I-65 in Louisville on the sidewalk on Jackson street, but it’s gone and it didn’t expand.
Oh, that's easy.
Canada, Mexico, or Martha's Vineyard.
So, what are they going to do with them?
“Great! Relocate them to??????????? What places are they going to ruin next?”
Through history they “relocate” them to a beautiful meadow, 6’ under in the middle of nowhere...
Putting a band-aide on a sucking chest wound.
Yeah, thatโll do it!
The suburbs and inland cities like Fresno and Bakersfield. One-way bus tickets sweetened with gift cards, paid for by “leftover covid funds”.
The red cities and counties will then be shamed by Sacramento for neglecting “concentrated poverty”, which can only be fixed by more community organizers and high-speed rail.
LOL. I wonder why.
Wrong Bee lol
Where you gonna put ‘em, in Napa Valley?
I know the lefty mayor of SF said the same thing a few days ago - she was “finally” going to “clear out homeless encampments” that are all over San Francisco. She is in a tough re-election campaign and her opponents’ platforms are clearing out the homeless. People there are sick of it.
95 businesses have closed with more threatening to b/c of homelessness and rampant shoplifting.
The streets are clogged with delivery services, Amazon, etc., b/c so many things are locked up behind plexiglass now.
PRIVATE PROPERTIES
I suspect Newsom well understands that his tax base, including productive businesses, are fleeing the state and taking their tax dollars with them. People here are sick and tired of homeless encampments all over our streets and rampant shoplifting that is either causing businesses to close, lock up their products or move out.
He can’t get tax dollars out of his base - illegals and welfare recipients. How will he ever fund his lefty schemes? Fortunately, he can’t print money
Elon Musk is moving his Space X operations from Hawthorne, CA to Texas.
Exactly...this does seem like a Babylon Bee headline. Wonder what took him so long to decide this?
