Donald Trump's would-be assassin Thomas Crooks was flying a drone above the rally site two hours before the shooting and just 200 yards away from the stage, FBI Director Christopher Wray has revealed.
Wray made the bombshell revelation to Congress on Wednesday during a grilling by lawmakers on the investigation into the assassination attempt on the former president and the massive security failures.
Crooks shot Trump in the ear just 400 feet away from the stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 from the roof of a nearby building just outside the security perimeter of the event.
Wray revealed that investigators found Crooks had a drone that he used to survey the scene hours before the event started, which was recovered from his car parked nearby.
He flew the drone around 4 p.m. over the area of the rally close to '200 yards' from the stage to survey the scene. Trump took the stage around 6:03 p.m., over two hours later.
The FBI has also recovered three 'explosive devices' in possession of Crooks.
They were 'relatively crude devices' but had the ability 'to be detonated remotely,' Wray said.
The FBI director also revealed the weapon used had a 'collapsible stock,' which he said 'could explain why it might've been less easy for people to observe.'
Wray said eight bullet cartridges had been recovered from the roof where Crooks fired off his shots toward the former president.
And he wouldn't rule out that Crooks did not have any accomplices to the crime, saying it's still being looked at by law enforcement.

The mischaracterization of Project 2025 is extreme. During the testimony one of the Dem Committee Members asserted that Project 2025 wanted to eliminate to the Office of General Counsel and leave the FBI with no legal representation. I went and found a copy online and quickly found the section of the document that pertained to the FBI. The suggestion was that the OGC be eliminated, replaced with shared lawyers from other E-Branch departments. Does the FBI (which is part of the DOJ) need 300 of its own lawyers? It's a fair question to ask.
I encourage everyone to read Project 2025 - the way it is presented in the media isn't correct or fair. When folks bring it up as being the end of times, you can correctly point out that they're wrong and doesn't say what the person on TV said it says.

There is a video that shows him on the roof laying flat. During the first 3 shots, there is no smoke, no signs of RECOIL from the rifle.
Just one minor thing. He didn't fire the bullet that hit Trump.

Yes, I saw that one today. He had nothing to do with the 3 initial shots that almost took Trump out..
There were AT LEAST two shooters..
You can see the first person that was hit and falls over. The place he was standing does not line up with the roof, It lines up with someplace else. I believe someplace lower than Trump.
Also mentioned (at first) was that the bombs were not 'armed' nor able to be easily/quickly armed..
So.... they were just like the bombs planted during the Jan 6 Protest/Rally.
I.E. they were (just like) training bombs from the FBI's supply department.
The parents(?) stated that they became concerned because he left (their house) that morning (meaning he slept there) to go to the rifle range. They were concerned because he is usually only gone for a couple of hours (when going to the range).
Either he was living there, or the parents are actors and the house was a ‘safe house’, which would explain the lack of silverware and the spotless appearance of the house(if that is actually true).
