It may take similar cases brought in different parts of the country to get SCOTUS involved.
The real problem here is giving some aggrieved group, of which there is an infinite supply, the ability to use the court system to make people do things they don’t want to do. Take photos at gay weddings, bake cakes, plan the event, all of those things are happening in an aggressive in-your-face way when there are clearly alternative suppliers of all those things. This is like giving a two-year-old control over his parents. Pure, unadulterated evil. The court needs to not only stop this, but fine those who do it. I’d also disbar the attorneys who brought the cases.
How could this case for a birthday? Second, there are probably only two justices that would reverse it.
Here’s hoping.
We have to remember that Congress passed the Respect for Marriage Act, which explicitly legalized homosexual marriage, by statute law.
So even if the Supreme Court reversed itself, to rule that there is not some constitutional right to same sex marriage, that law is still there.
The Supreme Court ruled as they did, at a time when federal law banned homosexual marriage.
Legally, it’s not going to be that simple for the Supreme Court to overturn a previous ruling and then say that homosexual marriage is illegal again.
Quite a distance from “keeping the government out of the bedroom” to government mandated acceptance of that lifestyle.
WAY too late to put the genie back into the closet where it belongs...
long overdue.
nothing in the US constitution gives the federal level of govmt authority to legislate marriage law. without that the right to decide belongs to the people and/or the states.
Oberkfell must be overturned.
Reverse it and let each state decide. Nothing in the constitution supports homosexuality, nor says we must “marry” perverted homosexuals.
should have always been a state issue.
I’m skeptical of this story, but I hope it happens that way.
Same as Roe...send it back to the states.
Make America Great Again?
Make Sodomy Illegal Again.
I could see it being shut down by ruling on it the same as they did to get rid of Roe v Wade-just say it is up to each state-I like that-if you want your state to be involved in marriage, then get a vote. Personally, I think marriage is a man and a woman-and it is the business of the pastors, priests, rabbis, imams etc-in other words, clergy-not govt. I don’t think most clergy will go for marriage between same sex individuals, or anything other than what is natural- a man and a woman...
