Yeah, don't think it went down like that.

Well, I dunno... dad IS a libertarian!

Well. Perhaps not like that.
The parents were worried enough to call the police when their grown adult 22 year old son “couldn’t be found” during the day. That is odd, isn’t it?
I suspect that over some long period of time, they had heard their son ranting and raving with profanity at high volume and a great deal of animus towards Trump or Conservatives, but most likely Trump.
What else would cause parents to drop on dime on their own son? It surely wasn’t that he went out and didn’t tell them where he was going.
I don’t know anything about his parents except they are professional counselors of some kind, which experience tells me that they are unlikely to be Conservatives.
I agree that without explicit knowledge of the situation, we can’t blame the parents for the crimes of the adult child.
But if it turns out the gun belongs to the father, and he knew his kid was unhinged with political anger (which they likely did given the phone call to police) and he didn’t have his firearm secured, then he is culpable for the death of one man, and the injury of several others.
I don’t know his parents. But in all my years, I do know something of human behavior, and the fact that they were worried enough to call police isn’t idle speculation.
It would be interesting to hear that call they made to the police.
