July 22 (Reuters) - The Illinois State Police released video on Monday of a sheriff's deputy killing a woman in her home this month, revealing details of a shooting that some likened to high-profile cases in which law enforcement has used excessive force on Black Americans.
Sean Grayson, a white deputy who was dismissed from the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office and charged with three counts of first-degree murder last week, fired three shots at the woman, Sonya Massey, according to the indictment. He also faces a charge of aggravated battery and one of official misconduct.
"Sonya’s death at the hands of a police officer reminds us that all too often Black Americans face fears for their safety in ways many of the rest of us do not," President Joe Biden said in a statement on Monday.
"I commend the actions taken by the Springfield State’s Attorney’s office. While we wait for the case to be prosecuted, let us pray to comfort the grieving," he said, calling on lawmakers to pass a stalled police reform bill named after George Floyd, who was choked to death by a white officer in 2020.

Did you read post 27? That’s why.
ABSOLUTELY
DID OPRAH gain back all that weight she had lost?
Or are these old pics?
Dereck Chauvin disagrees.
I wondered the same thing. Maybe it has something to do with him shooting her three times. Maybe each shot was potentially lethal.
I saw the raw video of both body cams. Usually YouTube has a Share button, but for some reason this one doesn’t. You should still be able to find it with a search.
The title is GRAPHIC: Body camera video shows deputy fatally shooting a woman in Springfield, Illinois.

You don’t like the odds because you don’t know the odds. You simply look at the stories the media feeds you and you form your opinions based on that. In and of itself, I don’t care what misconceptions you have in your own head. But a lawyer feeding the anti-cop rhetoric spewed by MSNBC to his clients is professional malfeasance, IMHO.
Well you are entitled to your opinion. I see the seamy side of life. I don’t know what you do for a living, but maybe you don’t see the seamy side of life.
Oh come on-—if that were you or me we’d be in jail for murder. She said to the cop “I need to turn off the stove before the house burns down”. Murder-—it’s a simple is that. My guess, is our government has been putting criminals and illegals in as cops——police are not what they used to be. Still more good than bad, but I believe criminals are now running the streets.
Let's see how heels-up harris handles the summer of love 2.0.
Body-cam video shows Illinois officer fatally shooting Black woman in face
A white deputy, Sean Grayson, shot Sonya Massey, who called police in fear of a home intruder, after boiling water dispute

I don't think "race relations" will ever be settled in this country when the media and many politicians stoke the fire at every possible opportunity, almost always unnecessarily.
However, unlike the floyd case, this specific case looks pretty bad for the cop involved:
After an initial discussion and request for Massey’s driver’s license, Grayson spotted a pot of boiling water on the stove and ordered Massey to remove it to avoid starting a fire. In doing so, Massey asks the officers
– who visibly distance themselves from her as she goes to handle the pot
– why they moved away from her.“Where you going?” she asks them.
“Away from your hot steaming water,” Grayson answers, with a laugh, before Massey responds: “Away from the hot steaming water? Oh, I’ll rebuke you in the name of Jesus.”
With his gun drawn, Grayson closed the distance between himself and Massey, who was beginning to kneel behind a counter with her hands up.
“You better fucking not, I swear to God I’ll fucking shoot you right in your fucking face,” Grayson warned.
Massey can be heard saying, “I’m sorry,” as Grayson continues to advance. “I’m sorry,” she says again as Grayson fires three shots, striking her with a bullet below the eye that exited from the back of her neck.
As Massey lay dying on her kitchen floor, Grayson says he’ll go get his medical kit to render aid.
“That’s a headshot. She’s done,” Grayson says before going to get the med kit.
As the pair stand there with their guns still drawn, Grayson says: “I’m not taking a bullet out of her fucking head,” then points out that the water from the pot had reached his feet.
“What else can we do?” Grayson asks his partner. “I’m not taking hot boiling water to the fucking face.”
Of course. It's already being portrayed by the media as the prosecutor vs. the convicted felon.
That's the only thing I can think of to justify being scared of her later when she had a pot of hot water saying she rebuked them in the name of Jesus.
Haha. Hoo boy do I have a story for you…
If she wins it will be like nuking the Titanic as it’s sinking, just the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen right now. I will never underestimate the lefts ability to make things go from bad to worse.
I was just watching her speech on TV, she actually said - no joke - Biden accomplished more than any President in US history and all the lemmings in the audience cheered and clapped. Each one of them needs to be bitch slapped across the head
"just the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen right now. I will never underestimate the lefts ability to make things go from bad to worse."
Well, if what was written in that article I posted is to be believed:
1. They entered the house (after first looking into it with flashlights, according to a neighbor) because "Massey, whom her daughter confirmed was paranoid-schizophrenic, had called police because she thought someone was trying to break into her home."
2. The reason Massey moved the pot of water is because the cop order her to remove it "to avoid starting a fire."
3. "Massey, who was beginning to kneel behind a counter with her hands up." She say's she's sorry, twice, and then was shot in the face.
What I'd like to know is, does this police dept not issue tasers to their officers? Are they not trained in non-lethal force? Why in the world, from a distance, would this officer believe a pot of boiling water (that he ordered her to remove) was a threat to his...or anyone else's, life?
This one looks bad, not just for those involved, but for the country. If I were inclined to gamble, I'd wager that we're going to be hearing a lot more of this case this summer.
Interesting interview, thanks for posting. I have had four interactions with LE over my adult life that left me really questioning their judgement, integrity, and professionalism. No way do I give a blanket pass just because someone is wearing a badge.
