Ohio Republican Senator J.D. Vance will hold his first rally since being named as President Trump’s vice-presidential nominee on July 22 in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio.
According to a press release, the rally will be held at Middletown High School. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. ET and Vance will speak at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Vance centered his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention around his small-town upbringing. He spoke highly of his grandmother who raised him, as his mother struggled with drug addiction.
Vance will likely spend a large amount of time campaigning in rust belt towns to appeal to blue-collar workers who have suffered under the leadership of Biden.
Following the catastrophic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, Vance was one of the most vocal critics of the Biden administration for its handling of the disaster. Shortly thereafter, Vance and Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, introduced the Railway Safety Act of 2023, to implement new safety procedures for trains carrying hazardous materials. The legislation is still stalled in the Senate but has bipartisan support.
President Trump and J.D. Vance held their first joint rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday at Van Andel Arena, which saw a massive turnout.
