President Biden made the historically rare decision Sunday to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, less than four months after being declared the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee and days after a dismal debate showing.
The 81-year-old president’s exit from the race – months before Election Day – comes after a debate performance against former President Donald Trump in which the incumbent appeared infirm and was at times incoherent – alarming Democratic donors and strategists.
Biden’s withdrawal is expected to set off a free-for-all for the Democratic nomination for president.
The president cannot by decree select his replacement atop the 2024 ticket. Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and former first lady Michelle Obama have all previously been floated as possible replacements for Biden.
Harris, 59, is widely seen as the frontrunner due to legal constraints over the transfer of the Biden-Harris campaign’s war chest but many Democrats doubt her viability in the general election due to her favorability ratings often lagging even Biden’s.
Biden opted to throw in the towel after a series of embarrassing revelations that senior party leaders had no confidence in his ability to win — amid a mounting mutiny among rank-and-file congressional Democrats fearful that they too would lose if Biden went down in a landslide loss.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) were among those who warned Biden about bleak polling data — while former President Barack Obama reportedly confided in allies that he had lost confidence in Biden’s path to another term.
The president launched his re-election bid in April 2023, asking voters to give him another four years to help him “finish the job.”

The first ballot is now a formality.
Day one: Hold the first ballot, nominate Biden, Biden refuses to accept the nomination.
Now the delegates are free to vote as this will. Super delegates can also vote.
Day two: Open convention.
BTW, the dems can shorten this process by holding their virtual convention vote and deeming this to be the first ballot. Then Biden refused to accept the nomination. On to Day two.
Joe fell down and forgot to get back up!
LMAO
He was going to drop out, it was only a matter of when. I had just hoped for more of a nasty fight. We are still likely to get that over picking a nominee. Harris remains a issue for them.
Looks like Studio 6B’s ‘Team Chemtrails’ is going to Vegas! Woo-hoo!
This is historic.
This is HUGE!!!!
Oops, wrong pic.

We apologize for the inconvenience during this time. This situation is temporary, but could continue for anywhere from a few hours to a few days. We hope to have everything completed and back to normal sooner rather than later.
They gave him 2 options:
1. Go like LBJ..
2. Go like JFK..
He chose #1
John Solomon thinks the ticket will be Harris-Wittmer.
And just like that (/insert finger snap) the media will stop talking about the deep state plot to kill Trump
Nixon was never convicted of anything and Gerry Ford pardoned him.
Yes, he did endorse Harris.
No doubt he was paid a tidy sum to drop out. All it takes is money with them.
I’m sure they secured Hunter’s freedom as well.
So, is he dropping out due to “health reasons” or is he simply dropping out because the party thinks he is unable to win? If its the latter, then isn’t he “disenfranchising” the millions of voters who selected him in the primary? I imagine there will be some legal challenges in some states as a result of this “Torricelli-like” move.
That’s a shame
Of course now that he’s not running, he’s got nothing to lose, who knows what kind of crazy crap he’s going to try to do until January?
All the people crowing about this had better consider the ramifications. Joe was very beatable. Trump now has to tie all the failures of the last four years to the RAT party.
The stakes increased with SCOTUS, the House, and the Senate now in play. SCOTUS because if the Senate gets enough RATS, they will push to increase the number of Justices to allow RATS to take the court or nullify the conservatives.
Who bribed him? Or was it blackmail?>>> They got Hunter’s laptop. So there is probably enough there to blackmail him. Expect him to keep half of the campaign money.
The first ballot is now a formality.
Day one: Hold the first ballot, nominate Biden, Biden refuses to accept the nomination.

Wouldn’t this be a hoot:
Day one: Hold the first ballot, nominate Biden, Biden goes back on the deal and accepts the nomination.
