The shot that killed the man who attempted to assassinate former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last Saturday was a "one-in-a-million shot," according to a source familiar with the investigation into the shooting.
Fox News learned from the source the kill shot was a single shot taken by a Secret Service counter sniper whose view was obscured.
A local tactical team also took a shot at the would-be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, but missed.

Yep
They missed. There must have been some serious swearing and wall- punching in D.C..
I take it Cheatle holding her position is a message too. They’re saying FU.
Trump certainly has a way of exposing America’s deepest illusions. It was only a matter of time before the SS was exposed.
Yeah, rifles set up for hundreds of yards at that range was a chip shot. Pretty much have to decide with eye to put the bullet through.
I’m not that good a shot, but hunting with a friend with years of army service, he was able to take a deer with a quick shot through dense foliage when the deer’s neck was exposed for an instant.
I’m thinking a professional sniper can hit a 6 inch square target. But more power to him for hitting the mark.
The same report on Fox News channel claims he used no ladder and hid the rifle behind an AC unit he climbed up on to reach the roof.
Exactly. Poorly trained 20 year old amateur with little practice on that rifle vs. professional sniper with thousands of rounds of training on his sniper rifle.
20 year old assassin turns around and aims his gun at a police officer climbing onto the roof, then the assassin turns around toward Trump, re-acquires his target, calms himself, gets his breathing under control, and fires off three rounds.
Yeah, that sounds plausible
I was just going by the fact that early on they said he didn’t have a scope. Range finder, yes. Scope, No.
The Taliban feared American snipers more than anything including drones.
the assassin was lying prone on the reverse slope of the roof, just peering over the ridge with part of his head and the counter-sniper’s view was supposedly partially blocked by trees ... nonetheless, a counter-sniper should have been stationed on the roof of the AGR Intentional building instead of an assassin ...
It was not
They were local police SWAT
The guy that made the shot was secret service agent who was reputedly using semi automatic Knights Armament SR-25
Agree
“This is a distraction, folks. Don’t get caught up in something that doesn’t matter.”
exactly ... just like the focus on the assassin’s motive is completely irrelevant and is another distraction [unless of course they can pin a motive on the assassin that makes it the Republican’s fault] ...
I read today and tonight that they’re not sure but some Investigators suspect he used the AC Unit to get on the roof.
They don’t know but that’s one explanation.
“So now they’re saying the kid had a scope on his AR-15?”
that really shouldn’t be a surprise ... in fact, it would be surprising if a dweeb like that kid would try to use iron sights, even for a short shot like the one he tried to make ...
“so why should it be 1-in-a-million for the countersniper firing only slightly farther?”
exactly!
And as it turns out, that’s all the counter-sniper needed....
.
Absolutely.
It’s new information.
I like Bongino, but had to turn his show’s podcast Friday, as he kept repeating what his good buddies at the Secret Service told him. I do not trust them.
Right. There are so many contradictory lies being leaked purposefully.
Did he drive a small foreign car? There are 30 articles out there saying he did, including the Wall Street Journal.
75% of it is disinformation.
