MILWAUKEE - For four nights at Donald Trump's nominating convention in Milwaukee, a roster of speakers attempted to give one of the most divisive politicians in recent U.S. history a makeover, describing him as a loving and caring family man whose near-assassination at a rally on Saturday had changed him.
That new version of Trump lasted barely half an hour.
Then the Trump more familiar to Americans - the bombastic thrower of insults who revels in demonizing his opponents - re-emerged, trampling over the message of unity so painstakingly choreographed by the Republican National Committee this week.
In a rambling 92-minute address that broke the record for the longest convention speech in history, Trump called Democratic President Joe Biden the worst president in U.S. history and the former Democratic House Speaker "crazy Nancy Pelosi," and accused Democrats of launching judicial witch hunts against him and creating a "planet of war."
Using familiar hyperbolic and divisive language, he said illegal immigration to the United States was "the greatest invasion in history" and was leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans every year, though neither claim is supported by any data.
He painted a dark picture of a crumbling America, a nation in decline, its cities crime-ridden and economically depressed, a staple image of his stump speech in which he presents himself as the country's savior.
To be sure, Trump avoided some of the harshest language often deployed at his rallies. He usually relishes mocking Biden as an enfeebled president, but only mentioned him by name twice.
Trump returns to the campaign trail on Saturday.
Diehard supporters typically flock to his rallies to see Trump 1.0 - the man who mixes conspiracy theories with inflammatory rhetoric and threats of retribution against those he perceives to have wronged him.

This simpleton only regurgitates what he has been told to say.
LOL. Talk about projection. Biden is the one who is destroying his party and trampling on any efforts to make him a viable candidate.
“Don’t you criticize the Democrat.”
“ It was downright Presidential.”
I caught only the last minutes but I thought the same thing.
“he said illegal immigration to the United States was “the greatest invasion in history” and was leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans every year, though neither claim is supported by any data.”
clearly the mighty REUTERS knows nothing of the INVASION or the FENTANYL DEATHS...or they don’t report either.

“our crime rate is going UP, while crime statistics all over the world are plunging. That’s because they’re delivering their murderers, drug dealers, terrorists, and criminals of all shapes and forms, into the United States. We have become a dumping ground for the world, which is laughing at us. They think we’re stupid. They can’t believe what they’re getting away with, but getting away with it they are. In Venezuela, crime is down 72 percent. In El Salvador, murders are down 70 percent. The world’s criminals are coming here, to a town near you—and are being sent by their governments, because their governments are smarter than ours.”

Piss of Reuters! President Trump united people- Biden and Obama decided people, and everyone knows it but the brain dead liberals that read your filth
“Using familiar hyperbolic and divisive language,..”
What a JOKE!
According to this idiot “journalist”..(cough, cough..), EVERY guy who EVER campaigned is “devisive”..
“..How DARE he talk about doing things differently from our beloved regime!…”
“..How DARE he criticize our beloved democrat President!…”
“Hate speech! Divisiveness! A, a, a KILLER OF DEMOCRACY!!”
The GOP preoccupation with ‘image’ got us where we have been for the last 4 years
Five of the CNN undecided watches decided on Trump and at least two were braindead Dems.

I smell desperation.
I watched all four days and found the convention to be excellent. I did think Trump’s speech was too long and he looked very tired. I hope he gets some rest, but I understand he is hitting the trail Saturday. May the good Lord watch over him.
“””I thought it was a great convention. I enjoyed it.”””
So did I. I especially enjoyed the speeches by the ‘unknown’ Americans who told us about what Trump has done to HELP them or what Biden has done to HURT them.
That is the contrast. Trump helps people. Democrats hurt people.
Oh, timmy. Go back to your corner with your blankie and your binky and be quiet.
Well it looks like they were emboldened saying Trump‘s speech absolutely a snoozer a disaster and think now FJB can win it. Just telling you all what they were saying. I don’t know if maybe they feel that Trump is vulnerable and they have a chance to defeat him now. I “kinda” liked Trump‘s speech but maybe I’m wrong. I think it was too long and people tuned out. I don’t know that’s my opinion. What do y’all think? Because if it would’ve been an absolutely home run barn burner you would be hearing a lot of victory comments from our side and the gloom and doom with tears running down their cheeks from the mediapukes. Though I still cannot believe that polls are showing Trump leads by a couple of points against the cadaver. This nation is highly divided and no matter what Trump does 45% of Americans are still going to vote with a the cadaver. No ifs or buts about it. There’s only 5% that need to be persuaded and even then they’re divided. We’re a very polarized nation.
“””I watched all four days and found the convention to be excellent. I did think Trump’s speech was too long and he looked very tired.”””
My take on Trump’s speech is:
1. THE OPENING-—Trump’s somber reflection on how close he came to being killed.
2. THE MIDDLE-—Trump’s standard stump speech at his rallies. This was done for the folks who have never taken the time to watch Trump’s rally speeches.
3. THE CLOSING-—Trump’s encouragement to all that GREATNESS IS A GOOD ATTITUDE to have.
So I agree the MIDDLE was too long for me as I have watched many of his rally speeches, but Trump knows there are others who have not.
