Ummm. Isn’t Melania a legal immigrant as well? My thinking is that this would strengthen the case for immigration being legal - which seems like safe and sensible ground.

Many legal immigrants that I know and who had to move heaven and earth to get here are PO’d about the ones flooding in without doing the work.

Vance’s wife was born in San Diego.
Her family was here legally, if not already citizens (I don’t know the answer to that).
She’s not an immigrant.
I had no idea who JD Vance was. The first video that came up from a search was him speaking on July 10th to some conservative group.
I didn’t watch much of it. He started off saying that what makes America strong is our economy. And the military is strong because of our economy.
And the biggest threats to us are illegal immigration and having China make all of our stuff for us.
That was in the first 2 minutes. I didn’t need to watch anymore of the video to see that I like him.
