The only reason cancel culture became a thing is because those who used it never suffered it’s consequences (at first.) If the right had counterpunched then, that whole thing would have been like a bad summer before being swept under the rug once recognized as the mutually assured destruction it certainly is.
Well... after that shooting, a lot of people became hopping mad, about as riotous as we get. If some take that out in the form of flagging clearly abhorrent anti-social behavior regarding the shooting, then so be it. Better that than acting the fool. At least for awhile.
It being used against the same people who support using it against us is fine. If they don’t want me to have my free speech, then I won’t defend theirs.
This all got started at some level under W. The worst sort of stuff was said about him, and he never responded, nor his people. Letting that go unaddressed was a huge mistake by him and Republican leadership.
