How CBS News’ Hunter Biden reporting backfired on network’s ‘woke’ ex-boss Ingrid-Ciprian Matthews: ‘head on a stick moment’
New York Post ^ | July 16, 2024 | Alexandra Steigrad

The stunning fall of the “woke” boss at CBS News last week was a “head on a stick moment” at the Tiffany Network — and was a case of a divisive executive who had long been viewed as untouchable.

...

Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, a 30-year CBS News veteran who was its highest-ranking woman of color — and who abruptly stepped down as president last week after less than a year on the job.

The Dominican-born executive — who for years had weathered CBS firestorms including the sexual misconduct scandals that toppled Charlie Rose and “60 Minutes” boss Jeff Fager in 2018 — had once been described to me as “Machiavellian”.

...

she had created her own universe of loyalists whom she promoted over the years — and a list of enemies that she either neutralized or maneuvered out of the company.

Last week, however, CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon announced that Ciprian-Matthews will move to a temporary consulting role for the rest of the 2024 election before exiting the company for good.

...

Ciprian-Matthews’ rough handling of senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge. More than two years ago, Herridge been personally asked by a top CBS exec to aggressively cover the Hunter Biden saga

...

It was a directive from the highest levels – executive and ownership level — at CBS and its corporate parent Paramount Global...

Nevertheless.. Herridge still encountered roadblocks from Ciprian-Matthews

...

Ciprian-Matthews had been “dragging her feet” — a “classic Ingrid tactic” that the exec implored instead of saying “no” to her bosses or talent looking for promotions. She also allegedly failed to act on a new cost-trimming mandate from McMahon to use local correspondents to cover stories when appropriate

> Apparently Ciprian-Matthews stocked the whole company with her loyalists, at every level.<

Surely under the guise of DEI.

CBS has a failed news division. NorDUH O’Donnell is unwatchable and her dismal ratings prove it. Gayle King has made her morning show CBS Mornings for Blacks only, as if Blacks were 90% of the population. Terrible program.

I hate to say this but

WOMEN ARE TERRIBLE BOSSES IN BUSINESS.

They are ...some of them...great MOTHERS, but that does NOT translate to good executives.

It’s sad but true.

Ahh, vague innuendo instead of citing concrete examples, thy name is ShadowAce!

Seriously: What, specifically, have I written that can be construed as "ironic?"

Don't be coy! Spit it out! What's the problem?

Regards,

P.S. Just caught what you were apparently hinting at, you sly dog! But maybe you should first look up meaning of the word "tyro" ("a beginner or novice") before you go criticizing others. ALSO: I'm not a paid journalist, publishing faulty copy, i.e., confusing the words "imploring" and "employing." Rather, I'm a guy in the crowded dining car of a rickety train trundling through Europe, on his second glass of Rieslinger, whom you are (wrongly) accusing of a mere typographical error.

How do you spell "typo?"
