New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez was found guilty Tuesday of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes — including 1-kilogram gold bars — in exchange for using his powerful post to enrich and protect three businessmen and the Egyptian and Qatari governments.

Menendez, 70, wearing a blue suit and pink tie, sat with his head bowed at the defense table and kept a poker face while the jury forewoman read the word “guilty” 18 times, for each count that he and his two co-defendants faced.

The bombshell verdict was delivered in Manhattan federal court after about 12½ hours of deliberations spread over three days. It capped a nine-week trial that revealed how the senator leveraged his position to cater to the whims of men who showered him and his wife with gold, cash and gifts including a Mercedes-Benz convertible. “This wasn’t politics as usual. This was politics for profit,” US Attorney Damian Williams told reporters outside court following the verdict.

We all know he's going to spend no time in prison, and we all know why. He'll also probably get a pardon for "humanitarian reasons."

In fairness, Trump also pardoned people who did not deserve it.

And didn't pardon people who did deserve it (e.g., the January 6th protestors, among others).

Finally! A RAT faces justice! I was beginning to think they were always above the law.

Excuse me. Trump couldn’t have pardoned J6 people, he was out of office before most of them were even charged. People are still being charged years later.

I’m not saying it’s a realistic option, but haven’t presidents made preemptive pardons before?

Do we have to go through all this again?

Ford pardoned Nixon before he was charged with anything. That set a precedent.

Yes, Trump could have pardoned all the January 6th protestors before they were charged with anything.

A one kilogram bar of gold is worth

1 Kg = 32.15075 troy ounces * $2464 per ounce = $79219. It is good to be a traitorous crook!

A few years ago, we had a Democratic US congress woman Corrine Brown who actually was convicted and sent to prison for about 6 years, she had been in prison for 2-3 years when Covid happened, she was given early release and was never sent back after Covid.

She deserved to go to prison but in terms of corruption she was small potatoes compared to people like the Clintons, Pelosi, Bob Menendez, and dozens of other Washington politicians, Brown was convicted of raising money for a non-profit she set up and using the money for personal expenses.

Nobody had an inkling that the DOJ would go after patriotic Americans. They waited until the very second Trump was out of office before going after them.

...didn't pardon people who did deserve it ...

The real reason for the second impeachment was to prevent Trump from pardoning anybody the Deep State did not want pardoned. Removal would have prevented Trump from ever holding office again.

There have been a few, if you are no longer useful. There was Rod Blagojevich, Ralph Abernathy, Marion Berry. There was a guy in the 90s Rush Limbaugh used to mention a lot, but I can’t remember the name.

Finally! A RAT faces justice! I was beginning to think they were always above the law.

They're just going to replace him with someone worse, just like they did with cuomo and hochul.

The left doesn't throw people under the bus for no reason.

Justice isn't being done here. They're up to something else.

Hi Nick. My point is he wouldn’t know who to pardon. Many weren’t charged for years.

Would he need the names? Couldn’t he just cite the event and date?

James Anthony Traficant Jr. Rush mentioned him a lot because he was not a team player for the RATs. Notice how it is the RATs who dissent from their own party that get nailed most of the time?
