A very pleasant good Tuesday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Lauren for this morning's thread.

Heat Advisory again today, another early trip to the lake. Yesterday at Comanche Lake in our morning trip:

How's everyone doing this morning?

Hey there radu!

Did you get any kind of break in the heat today? We just got hotter. 98 and scorching.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Maybe this will be your last heat advisory day for the next week. Forecasts are looking pretty good.
Looks like it was a bit warm, even early yesterday. Were you able to get your mowing done?

Howdy, luvie.

No, we don’t get a break until later in the week. It was 98 today and tomorrow won’t be any better. It’ll be even more humid so a large part of the state is under a heat advisory until tomorrow evening. The front comes through Wednesday and we cool off after that.

I headed out at 7:00 to get some groceries and it was still steamy then, but tolerable.

Hang in there. If what they’re saying holds up, we’re both in for a break for a week once it gets here!

I hope you don’t have neighbors close by, mowing that early in the morning. That could get a person hurt. LOL

Hey! We were the same. I’m sure yours felt hotter, though. I didn’t go out to check mine. The kitties were AWOL for most of the day, and it’s still 85.

I don’t blame you for waiting till late in the afternoon to get out. That would be the plan here, too.

I know it’s going to only be in the mid-80s Thursday, but not sure how long it’ll last. Even one day is a nice break.

Yep, we were the same today. I did step out for a moment to check the hummingbird feeder on the patio. It was almost empty so I refilled it and put it back out. That was enough of being out until it was closer to sunset.
There were rain showers along the mountains and that raised the humidity here since the wind was blowing from that direction. Just ugly out there.

The National Weather Service shows we’re expected to have the cool-down for a week once it gets here, and it includes TX. If it goes as they expect, we’re in for a nice treat.

Well, I could get excited over a whole week of being cooler! Sounds so nice.

Guess I’d better go once I finish this show. I don’t know why I’m so sleepy tonight, but I sure am. Talk tomorrow!

I can get VERY excited about a whole week cooler than we’ve been. I’ll be disappointed if they’re wrong but that’s what they’re saying as of now.

I do feel bad for what’s in store for the west coast during that week. They say it’ll be an inferno over there. :-(

Sleep well and sleep late. Maybe you won’t be as tired tomorrow.

((LOL))Well, it's actually fenced in and everyone was sleeping. Also I actually waited until it was dusk so I could see the grass.

One thing I never do is mow at night because you want to be able to watch what you're doing with the grass.

News Worth Celebrating

Bible in a Year :

Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him.

2 Timothy 2:11

For more than two centuries, the hymn placed first in the Methodist hymnbook was “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing.” Written by Charles Wesley and originally titled “For the Anniversary Day of One’s Conversion,” the song was composed to commemorate the radical renewal sparked by his faith in Jesus. It has eighteen stanzas proclaiming the glory of God’s goodness to those who repent and follow Christ.

Such faith is worth celebrating—and worth sharing. In 2 Timothy 2, Paul encourages Timothy to remain steadfast in his faith and to persevere in sharing it. He noted, “This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal” (vv. 8-9). Rather than second-guess his choices, Paul reminds Timothy to remember the good-news message: “Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David” (v. 8), came not to rule but to serve and ultimately to die for the sins of the world so that we may have peace with God. Death didn’t win. Jesus rose from the grave.

And just as it set free those who believe, the message itself isn’t bound. “God’s word is not chained,” said Paul (v. 9), not even from places where death seems to have won: prison cells, hospital beds, gravesides. In Christ, there’s hope for all people. That’s news worth celebrating!

Reflect & Pray

How do you celebrate the good news of Jesus in your daily life? Whom can you share this good news with?

Father, thank You for saving me and giving me opportunities to share the good news with everyone.

Harold “Hal” Weekley was shot down on 13 August 1944 on his 20th mission in B-17 42-102516, bombing a bridge at Le Manoir, France. The crew bailed out at 25,000 feet, all survived, some captured, some evaded. “I evaded for six weeks and returned to base after being involved in behind-the-lines activities. I was the first 398th crew member to return to base from occupied Europe.” Hal stayed in the Air Force for some 30 years and afterward became an inspector for the FAA.
