Now that Donald Trump has announced Sen. JD Vance as his running mate, the Biden campaign is prepared to paint the Ohio Republican as “extreme” and merely an extension of Trump's own positions and record, according to two people familiar with the re-election effort’s thinking.
Vance’s position on abortion will be a top issue the Biden campaign highlights, these people said, as well as his views on accepting the results of the 2024 election regardless of who wins.
“That’s the ultimate Donald Trump litmus test,” one of the people familiar with the campaign’s thinking said.
Biden campaign officials also plan to remind voters of disparaging comments Vance has made about Trump in the past

Just this morning I read the Biden’s campaign was going to hold off negative hit piece advertising and comments in the wake of the shooting.
Well they held off for a whole half day. That’s something, right?
They surely can’t run on how wonderful, sharp, clear and vigorous Joe is. Can’t run on the economy, the border, high prices, their war in Ukraine, fentanyl drug crisis, and dozens of other Biden screw up that leaves America on the brink.
So negative campaigning is all they can do.
Wait, it just occurred to me. Biden can win on how he beat Medicare!
More broadly, we don't need czars. Just need good DHS, DOJ, and FBI leadership to enforce the laws. Maybe Paxton, Abbott, and others.
Biden has nothing at this point.

Their messaging is fatally broken. After 2 weeks of Biden-Gate followed by Trump’s miraculous assassination survival, they have no where to turn. There is no effective messaging for them any more. Unless they come out and say “We were wrong. We want to apologize to the American people for what we’ve done to the country.” anything they say will only make things worse for them. They’d be better off just shutting up and not saying another word until election day.
