Oh my word, if this is true, this is a major failure in the Secret Service protocol.........you don't let the bad guy with a gun shot the President first - you take the threat out BEFORE they shot the President.

Okay, so don’t open fire. Can you at least warn the potential victim so he can get out of the way?

I wish I could get a GIF of that secret service guy being waved away from his position at the rear of JFK's limo.
He looks back at the person — presumably his boss — who's ordering him away, puts his hands out to either side in a "what the hell?" gesture, and backs away from his position.

Ask Jack Kennedy what his thoughts are about that protocol?
Pure lunacy........

But in Mar-a-Lago, they had full authority to use deadly force.

Makes sense! You can’t just kill any old person for assassination if he doesn’t “assassinate” anyone!? What’s wrong with you people?!!

but the biggest reason Trump’s life was put in danger is because rules of engagement prohibit snipers from engaging until the assassin shoots first.
I don't believe this is true.
Are they saying if one (not me!) walked up to a president and pulled a gun they would not engage me? Till I fired first?
Or does this policy only extend to ex-presidents named Trump?

If true (and that is a big if) someone on the inside set this up.

In other words, don’t fire until Trump is dead.
F them.

Internet rumors are that the counter-sniper had the perp sighted but was denied permission to shoot. Then the SS man was immediately fired for making this info public. Need source.

Horrifying if true.
So the SS gives the Prez LESS protection, than the average person defending themselves or somebody else?
The standard of “immanent threat to life” replaced by “they get ONE free shot”?
To: Mr Ramsbotham
If you are in that job, you presumably qualify as a good shot. The shooter can be disabled

I was going to say the same thing, at some point, all these “failures” and allegations of incompetence at some point turn into planned results and activities.
The idea of not returning fire until an assassin takes the first shot is insane, a competent assassin on Saturday and Trump would be dead, which I contend is what the desired result is.

Maybe this is their chosen cover story: “We’re so incompetent, we couldn’t have possibly pulled off an insider plot to kill Trump.”
If so, they’re doing a bang-up job of making it believable. That Keystone Kops routine near the limo yesterday was epic. The three girls had no idea where they were or what they were supposed to do. On the other hand, though, leaving that rooftop completely unguarded just couldn’t have been an oversight. Even a group of mall cops tasked with creating a security plan would have figured that one out.

Why do you think they ordered all security cameras turned off when they arrived?
