The “pier” was such a stupid rank waste of money, it p**ses me off. Not that something similar couldn’t have been done, but that pier had a mooring specification, 3 foot seas and 10 mph winds. A third grader could have checked weather and sea conditions at the proposed site and found that the pier would not be able to withstand nearly everyday conditions at that location.

Yes, I realize that the effort was primarily a showboat exercise, but considering it had zero chance of working, the result is only another demonstration of feckless US foreign entanglement.
