"It would be safe to say that the security performed extremely poorly," the counterterrorism specialist said. "You could say that this terrorist act or, shall we say, assassination attempt, was successful. Donald Trump’s life was saved by a miracle rather than by his security."

This is the best single sentence I’ve yet to read about the attack. The gunman did hit his mark. But only a wound and, by the Grace of God, a grazing one at that.

I’ve yet to read or hear an explanation of how the gunman was able to reach his perch, with a weapon, in broad daylight, under surveillance by the crowd clamoring for security to stop him, and loose several shots.

I don’t understand how the SS or even local cops didn’t think to put someone on that roof or at least have someone covering any possible means someone might have to get on that roof. Any average untrained person could look at the situation and know that roof is an important spot to have covered, even if from the ground.

“I’ve yet to read or hear an explanation of how the gunman was able to reach his perch,…”

Yep! Run this scenario past ANYONE post Dallas ‘63 before yesterday and they’d say No way in hell!

Yes any determined assassin can take out any person…

…but guy getting up on a wide open roof in the perfect position at a perfect distance visible to onlookers who are shouting warnings for minutes, for a straight on kill shot which he ACTUALLY GOT OFF? No way they’d say.
