There are a couple of cell phone videos of the shooter firing on Trump and being killed by the counter-sniper fire.

Witnesses saw the shooter climbing a ladder up to the roof with a rifle. They saw him creep across the hidden side of the roof and setup the shot at the crest. He was not in any way concealed from the witnesses.

For about three minutes, the witnesses tried to get police to pay attention. The response was "confused".

There is no real doubt this was the assassin, and he was killed right there after firing at least three shots.
