President Biden's meeting with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on Friday didn't go as planned, with one lawmaker even urging him to drop his re-election bid, according to two sources briefed on the matter.
Why it matters: It's a rare instance of a lawmaker actually telling the president in a direct encounter that he should exit the 2024 presidential race.
One lawmaker who was told about the meeting described it as going "haywire." The latest: Biden was an hour late to the Zoom meeting with Hispanic Caucus members on Friday, which was held through the group's political arm, BOLD PAC, the sources said.
After Reps. Lou Correa (D-Calif.) and Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) asked Biden questions, which one source described as "pre-selected," Sanchez, the BOLD PAC chair, tried to "lightly" end the meeting, the source said. But Biden offered to take more questions and Sanchez called on Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.). He told Biden it is time for somebody else to lead the party, according to both sources. Levin later put out a statement making that position public. Zoom in: In response to Levin's comment, Biden said, "That's why I'm going out and letting people touch me, poke me, ask me questions. I think I know what I'm doing," according to a source familiar with the call.
Biden said his age is a "legitimate concern for people," but "that's why I think it's important I gotta get out and show people everything from how well I move to how much I know and that I'm still in good charge."

Maybe it’s because I really place a high value on punctuality but I’m struck by his chronic extreme tardiness. Obama was the same way. People do not like to wait and it’s just so discourteous. Here you have people you want something from, namely their support at a very critical time, and he can’t be bothered to show up on time
“Age” is a red herring.
Biden is unfit because he is a senile clown.
Extreme tardiness is a classic symptom of extreme sociopathy.
It is a display of power—showing the sociopath’s time is valuable while their victim’s time is not.
Btw—that was one of the lesser considered benefits of telework.
When the slimy big bosses were late for meetings we were no longer stuck in a conference room waiting for them.
That is part of the story. But dems have been pretending there is nothing wrong with him (some still do). That is likely to cause "dysentery in the ranks" as they said on the Sopranos.

President of the United States is literally the only job Biden could currently perform.
They were OK with Biden until the fact that they were hiding his condition became a scandal. Note that FR posters said that Trump was a fool for agreeing to the debate.
That so they could also use the age against Trump. They start talking policy. They’re in big trouble.
It’s his staffs fault. They should say he’s supposed to be there an hour sooner than he really needs to be.
Demwits could use another joke from that movie for their t-shirt, which will best be worn with a paper bag with eyeholes over the head.
The other important joke for me is one that's usually attributed to Groucho Marx. I think it appears originally in Freud's Wit and its Relation to the Unconscious. It goes like this - I'm paraphrasing. I would never wanna belong to any club that would have someone like me for a member.
So Joe now has the perfect excuse to go back to his bunker. I am betting that we will not see him in public again.
