Because he’s Jewish?

Yep.

Trump is also laying low. Never interfere when your enemy is in disarray. No reason to ‘steal’ the news cycle from their mess. He’ll wait until the last minute to announce.

“The New York Times is a Potemkin news source.”

The NY Times, to me, is no different than Dr. Mengele writing something about Jewish culture.

This is just another wild guess - and you don’t need to read the article to know that.

Trump needs a VP who the Deep State hates even more than they hate him - an insurance policy against assassination. That should be his ONLY consideration.

Vivek would be a good pick - not just to carry the MAGA torch beyond 2028 - but more importantly to deter the Deep State from assassinating Trump.

I'm old enough to vaguely remember Eisenhower's first election.

In 1968, when selected as a running mate by Nixon, Agnew was not a national Republican figure, but a political unknown. Agnew had been a Baltimore county executive until becoming Marland Governor in 1967. Nixon was very well known, having been VP 1953-1961, and the losing candidate to JFK in the very close election of 1960. Nixon did not need to draw additional distinctions between himself and Humphrey. Agnew is mainly remembered for turns of phrase such as "nattering nabobs of negativism," and of course, for taking bags of money.

The 1968 result was Nixon 301, Humphrey 191, George Wallace 46, with a very close popular vote. The GOP picked up five seats in the Senate, five seats in the House, and five Governorships. The Democrats retained control of both houses of Congress.

The 1968 election was radically affected by the RFK assassination. On the day he was assassinated, RFK won California and South Dakota primaries, and vaulted into second place on delegate count, on a trajectory to perhaps win the nomination and election.

That lack of familiarity was regarded as an asset by Nixon and his advisers, who were eager to present a fresh face to the electorate, according to Nixon biographer Roger P. Morris. “Agnew was a mystery man, a cipher. He was a very unknown and seemingly bland and inconsequential character,” Morris said in an interview.

At the 1968 Republican National Convention, Richard Nixon asked Agnew to place his name in nomination, and named him as running mate. Agnew's centrist reputation interested Nixon; the law and order stance he had taken in the wake of civil unrest that year appealed to aides such as Pat Buchanan.

I read that Nixon picked Agnew because he thought the fiery speeches he made would appeal to people farther to the right than Nixon. But Nixon tried to avoid talking to or being seen with or ever meeting Agnew. He wanted to keep him very arms length.

No vice-presidential nominee has ever helped anyone win the race for POTUS

Maybe not win, but the only reason I voted for McCain was Palin. I figured the odds were good he would die in office and she would become President.
