Pssst....It's 2024, not 1944.

Gulags have been preserved in Russia to remind Russians citizens of Stalin's atrocities.

Russia's tax code is far less communist than ours and Putin has spent billions building churches in Russia.

We're the ones with rigged elections and political prisoners.

You said

“Suffering huge losses of manpower and equipment while achieving only incremental territorial gains = Russian ‘winning’ “

“Only in Russia! lol”

The thing is, that actually is winning. Basic Soviet doctrine was that a commander would be given a force, and an objective. It’s OK to lose all but one of his soldiers, as long as the one survivor is standing on the objective. President Putin regards the Soviet Union as “the good old days”, and largely follows Soviet doctrine.

The Soviet army regarded soldiers much the way the US Army regards ammunition: Something to be hurled into the face of the enemy. You don’t want to run out, but, as long as you have more, it’s OK to use them up.

On of the things that made communist dictators (of which Putin considers himself one) so dangerous is their willingness to use up their citizenry in pursuit of imperial gains. To gain ground, by losing people, actually is success as they see it. This is one of the reasons it is so important to oppose them, and try to minimize the human soldier ants they can call on.

But by destroying 1 in 250 of the Russian male population while behind the front lines his economy has withered to nothingness, Putin has killed rather than save Mother Russia.

Another principle of Soviet doctrine is that the purpose of the economy is to support imperial conquest. Soviet peacetime military expenditure was a terrible burden on the economy, and in wartime, the peasants would just have to find something to eat on their own.

Also, I have little trust in any casualty numbers I’ve seen. Both nations have long been showing signs of severe strain. But I have to figure that essentially everything Russia says is a lie, most of the things Ukraine says are lies, most of what the Biden administration says are lies, and most of what the institutional press says are lies. I find it hard to get any sort of solid information. What do you have to back up the 1/250 number? I tend to place some faith in reports of where fighting is taking place, but very little faith in reports of how it’s going. I would be grateful if you can point me toward something solid.

We're the ones with rigged elections and political prisoners.

Those would be the same rigged elections that gave us control of the House and the political prisoners whose median prison sentence was 60 days, correct?

Wake me when the J6ers get the Navalny treatment.

That rigged Presidential election in 2020. The one where Trump won 18 of 19 bellwether counties that had voted with the winner since 1980 and had coattails and no coat.

That you're denying it was rigged tells me exactly what you are.

And, peaceful J6 prisoners and 75-year old disable pro-lifers are absolutely political prisoners. It's disgrace anyone here would disagree.

Elections are not determined by who wins 19 bellwether counties. Elections are determined by who wins the Electoral College, and Trump did not win that.

You didn't answer my question: if the Rats rigged the presidential election of 2020 why didn't they also rig the Senate and Congressional elections to give Biden (or whoever really runs the show) a filibuster-proof majority? And how did they get Trump himself to say he didn't win the 2020 election in an interview?
Trump discusses 2020 election loss with historians

What's disgraceful is that any Freeper would describe rioters who assaulted police officers as "peaceful", no different than CNN describing the George Floyd riots as "mostly peaceful". I've been a law-abiding citizen all my life. I don't defend criminals, even if they claim to be MAGA.
