You are making my point.
Trump had the most milquetoast, white bread, moderate VP in 2020 and they STILL didn’t vote for him. It didn’t matter.
Nor will it matter this time.
If someone supports Trump they will vote for him. If they don’t, they won’t.
The only possible pickups are people that don’t have a strong opinion and may not vote. Those are the apolitical young white men. They aren’t going to care how moderate or immoderate the VP pick is. They may care if it is someone who is speaking to them on topics they care about though.
I know my friends. They voted for Biden because they were tired of mean tweets and childish fights and unpresidential behavior. Biden seem like a good alternative, since he cloaked himself in middle of the road candidate in 2020.
Many of my friends and relatives still do not like Trump. A presidential acting VP could be the straw to break their resistance to Trump.
- Trump's voting base has changed a lot since 2016. He's gained minority voters, and lost white voters. And in 2024, he seems like he's getting more moderate and independent voters. In fact, he may be getting some voters to the left of moderate, like Michael Rapaport.
- Personalitywise, maybe Pence maybe milquetoast, but he was hardly moderate or considered moderate. Remember, he was picked to balance the ticket. And the media even let their cars show, buy jumping on Pence as unacceptably conservative, in general, or compared to Trump.
You hit the nail on the head! Burgum is another milksop.
