WASHINGTON — A member of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor's security detail shot an armed man during an attempted carjacking in the early morning hours on July 5, according to court documents.
It happened as two deputy U.S. Marshals were on duty in a government car in Washington about 1 a.m. They were confronted by a man who got out of a silver minivan and pointed a gun at one of them through the driver's side window, according to a criminal complaint. The car was unmarked but the pair were dressed in U.S. Marshals shirts.

I also doubt this perp will be back on the street the next day as he would be had he carjacked the average citizen of D.C.
I’m guessing the security man fired from inside the car. Probably both officers suffered permanent hearing damage.
Another point, cops are allowed to carry from an unconcealed location whereas us ordinary citizens have to carry concealed where it’s much harder to reach when suddenly threatened.
In the mouth . . . .
Dude REALLY needs some range time.
Probably fired for effect and one was actually effectual.
Four shots, point blank ... and he only hit him in the mouth?
Where’d the other THREE bullets impact?
Know what’s beyond your target, eh?
funny: both of us wondered the same thing.
Real world vs. Hollywood eh? Yeah, the Marshals in the car definitely have hearing damage.
So ... the lesson here is ... if anybody tries to steal MY property ... I can just start blazing away on him ... right?
I’m sure all the democrats are okay with Sotomayor’s security personnel having guns. As for me and you, not so much.
At 1 am in a bad neighborhood Z(ie, all of WDC) they weren’t more prepared/observant? Pretty sloppy policing I’d say.

Yeah, disability claim likely within three months. At least in the line of duty.
Only things I want to know: Why didn't the Justice go outside and fire a double barrel shotgun into the air?
And how many rounds did the Marshal's magazine hold?
Dumbass writers, deputy needs serious range time.
Earlier, more accurate and better written reports have the perp being hit ONCE (in the mouth).
Every person that has someone in their employ or employed on their behalf, in possession of a Weapon for the purpose of protection or security, should be PERSONALLY REQUIRED to Posess a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit, since they are DIRECTLY UNDER YOUR CONTROL..
Not really.
Sounds like an attempt on her life.
25% hits at maybe 3 feet?
1. Marshal freaked a bit.
2. Only shoots to requalify each year.
3. Not the A Team.
My guess.
Still, a federal 10mm in the mouth at 10 feet?
Ouch. That’s a nasty wound.
Soft tissue, so where’d THAT round hit after the trough and through?
