Polish president: No Ukrainian territory can be ceded to Russia as price for peace deal
The Washington Times ^ | July 9, 2024 | Ben Wolfgang and Guy Taylor

The president of Poland on Tuesday sharply rejected any cease-fire deal for the Ukraine war that would require Kyiv to cede territory to Moscow — drawing a clear line in the sand at a moment when China, fellow NATO ally Hungary and some leading American politicians are growing louder in their calls for a rapid negotiated end to the conflict.

Polish President Andrzej Duda, whose nation is the most powerful NATO member state bordering Ukraine, stood firm on the issue in a wide-ranging exclusive interview with The Washington Times, just as a key summit of NATO leaders got underway in Washington.

Ukraine should be “admitted as soon as possible” to the transatlantic alliance, said Mr. Duda

“While it’s true that Putin would never have moved on Ukraine under Trump, they would have done so at some future date anyway.”

Good post overall, but not sure here. Putin held out as long as he could without going into Ukraine, as he knew the entire global alignment would change if he went in, but as you note, when 10 million Russians are BEGGING Putin for help from what a regime that OPENLY includes and idolizes Russia-hating NAZIs, he had no options left. In fact, the biggest complaint against Putin in Russia was that he waited too long.

So, given the present Nazified makeup of Ukraine (with a huge amount of help from the Neocons), Putin had to roll, at some point, and before they were ‘cleansed’.

“There is no need to use carriers. All such ships are easily tracked and can be intercepted at sea or in harbor, thousands of miles away from Russia, by any NATO frigate.”

Still an act of war when done to provoke warfare.

So, again, how many US carriers at the bottom of the ocean will you tolerate?

“Sooner or later Ukraine is going to run out of troops.”

Ukraine had about 40 million people before the war.

That’s about 10 million men of fighting age.

I suspect about 150,000 have been killed in action and maybe 100,000 crippled by war.

Yeah, and out there on their own, some Russian sub sinks one. And it doesn’t matter if we are “using” carriers. One in the Indian Ocean, or out in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere in transit gets sunk by a lurking sub, or by some FOPS launched hypersonic.

You may not like it, but stopping all shipping from a nation is an open act of war.

There is no risk to US carriers in re Russia.
In East Asia, that is another matter.

Open your eyes. We are headed into a general global war, driven mainly by Chinese ambitions, and Chinese economic problems. Russia and Putin are Mussolini to the Chinese Hitler, a puppet state.

All good and fine...until you see the Ukrainian press-gangs rounding up people in the street, the government there DEMANDING that Ukrainian men be returned from Europe, 58 year old conscripts on the front lines.

Most of us can see that the above is not adding up - someone is supplying bad information to our side.

Because the US Military is INVINCIBLE!!!!!!

(others out there - the above pretty much sums up why there’s a damn good chance of World War 3 starting)

You’re emission something. The nationalists and nazis prone to volunteer have already done so. So to access anyone left, you have to resort to war slavery, drafts, impressment, etc.
Nothing screams “western values” like slavery, no elections, and outlawing speech and religions.

Because the Russian Navy has few capable vessels, and they have a hard time keeping them at sea. They have no hope of generating a saturation missile attack against a USN task force.

The Chinese however are a different story.

As Russia has been doing since late 2022?

I believe the Russians are in the catbird seat. They aren’t leaving without what they have taken.

If this new Polish leftist wants to fight the Russians he can just do it alone.

It’s wrong no matter who does it. But if you want to go THAT route, bear in mind their pool is giant compared to the Ukraine.

I guess you’ll have to see what a Russian missile coming straight down at hypersonic speed into the deck of a carrier can do. And don’t give us any range crap, you know they can hit ANYWHERE in the world, and from any direction.

So, are you prepared to apologize to the families of our sailors?

Actually, the US paid Mexico for California, Arizona and New Mexico right after the war.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which brought an official end to the Mexican-American War (1846-48), was signed on February 2, 1848, at Guadalupe Hidalgo, a city to which the Mexican government had fled with the advance of U.S. forces.

The U.S. government paid Mexico $15 million “in consideration of the extension acquired by the boundaries of the United States” and agreed to pay American citizens debts owed to them by the Mexican government. Other provisions included the protection of property and civil rights of Mexican nationals living within the new boundaries of the United States, the promise of the United States to police its boundaries, and compulsory arbitration of future disputes between the two countries.
