A man in California spent more than $400 dollars at Trader Joe’s to feed his six children for a week and a half, as Americans struggle to survive in President Joe Biden’s (D) economy.

The father shared a video online that showed a receipt from the store in Westlake Village in Los Angeles County, Fox Business reported Saturday.

“Here’s what it takes to feed six kids in about a week and a half,” the man said in the video. The camera then pans down to show the bottom of the receipt which says the total bill was $444.38:

Trader Joe’s is overpriced. Should go to Walmart instead.

Trader Joe’s? I bet his $444 would have gone a lot farther at many other stores.

feed a family of six

six kids.

Is Dad eating this too, that’s seven, and is there a Mom eating? that’s eight.

That lowers it to $5.55 per person per day for 10 days.

No mention of a wife, if he is a single Dad feeding six kids my hat is off to him especially if he isn't doing this on the back of taxpayers.

No way he can be holding down a job and cooking from scratch which would save money. Give him the benefit of the doubt. Trader Joes has some excellent quality food at reasonable prices (I didn't say the best prices) Really the only thing we avoid is fresh meat which is pricey.

Other than Whole Paycheck, Trader Joe’s is just about the worst place to shop for a large family. It’s totally geared towards singles and couples without children households. It offers small quantity, pre-packaged items with higher than average per pound prices.

You are right. I am so fortunate that my wife and I can actually cook. Our kids never had bottled spaghetti sauce until they went away to college.

Most of the stuff on that list would cause my digestive system to go on strike.

$45/day for 6 kids (family of 8) is cheap.

Easily a gallon of milk per day. And a large box of Wheaties. and 2lb of hamburger or at least a whole chicken.

5lbs of potatoes per day, easy.

“Walmart’s meat selection is not great.”

The selection isn’t great, but we’ve been more than happy with the quality. We did learn that the Walmart where we used to shop got its meat from local farmers. I doubt if that’s true for most Walmarts, though. Lucked out.

Have had very BAD experiences with Kroger meats and poultry — should before use/sell by date.

We use to buy Two Buck Chuck at the WLV Trader Joe’s, but I have heard it’s not two bucks any more.

You are right about the quality of Walmart meat. Acceptable. That’s why I stated selection. With Kroger, shop the specials and the meat will be fresh enough.

However, my wife scored the deal to end all deals with Fry’s/Kroger clearance. She caught 10 ounce filet mignons expiring that day for $1 apiece! Four were left. Four family members. I was unemployed at the time. She bought all four, and they were as good as anything this side of Ruth’s Chris that I have ever had. They hadn’t gone bad. What a deal! God is Good.

10 days x 3 meals/day × 6 children = 180 meals.

$444/180 meals = $2.47 per child, per meal.

You cannot do a whole shopping run at Aldi, but it makes a good core to be supplemented. In California, he might want to check out Smart & Final, especially with a large family.

Yes. If you go early in the morning, the manager’s special marked-down meat can be a steal. Expires that day or the next. That’s why God made freezers.

IT is all his own fault.

IF YOU HAVE 6 KIDS-—who do not use TRADER JOE’S as your main grocery supplier.

Ralph’s-—Raley’s-—Hughes-—WAL MART—LOTS of other choices.

IF he is going to do all his shopping at the top shelf-—I have no sympathy.

6 kids—assuming a wife & himself-—8 persons.

I can buy a pork shoulder roast-—put it in crockpot at 8 Am & have a wonderful dinner ready in evening....slow & low.
A package of IDAHOAN dry mashed potatoes —family size—for 8 costs about $2.88——ADD 4 cups of hot water-—stir—ready in under 2 minutes.

SOMEONE NEVER LEARNED HOW TO SHOP-————
