There used to be a photo on the net of someone who lit a
a M-80 while holding it in his mouth, his face was basically pealed back to his ears. Hard to look at.

We taught ourselves about fireworks by holding lady-finger firecrackers while setting them off in our hands. You wouldn’t loose a finger but you got smarted right good. And realized anything bigger was going to hurt you.

I have no idea what would make a grown man do something so stupid. Large amounts of alcohol must have been involved. A few years ago someone put a 3 inch mortar in the tube upside down. The firework blew up on the ground about 20 feet away from me. It was a loud and powerful explosion. It would definitely kill a person if it was on top of their head. If it was in their hand it would have destroyed their hand. Fireworks are nothing to play with, especially the larger ones.

Tragically...yes. He was erased from the gene pool due to utter stupidity. Classic case of an Award Winner named after the thoroughly discredited botanist.

We used to mess around with M-80s but we respected them greatly.

Firework Injuries in Slow Motion from our good friends at Ballistic High-Speed, in which our heroes explode fireworks near ballistic gel dummies and demonstrate what will happen to live dummies who misuse pyrotechnic devices.

He obviously didn’t pay attention during the lecture on Newton’s third law.

Actually, if he already had kids, then he can’t be a Darwin Award winner. You only get that coveted prize when you completely remove your genes from the gene pool, and thereby increase the average intelligence of the human race.

Our dad taught us about respecting them by using lady fingers, too.
Then we went on to M-80’s without his knowledge. And we had great respect for them.

The “Darwin Award” concept is orders of magnitude more stupid than any case where a person dies of a tragic accident from their own actions.
You’re basically making fun of a horrible death.
But back to the stupidity of the Darwin Award: it presumes—in the low IQ tradition of nazis, communists and globalists generally—that Darwin himself was right with his silly ideas in the realm of biology, and then we have the stupid philosophical derivation known as social Darwinism.
I don’t know how anyone can read about a sad thing like this and make light of it. I truly hope you’re all deep state employees and not one of us. You can be certain the men who founded our country didn’t have attitudes like yours.

Cherry bombs too and torpedos the size of half dollars. Even today they are not powerful as the ones we could buy but still...Thank God we survived.
I spent the Fourth in New York once with some Nam buds...
the streets were an inch deep in Chinese newspaper. My friends lived on the edge of Harlem , we were on the roof
of his apartment block and throwing stuff down at the brothers while they were shooting rockets and roman candles up at us...a lot of fun was had by all!
