John Fetterman scolds Democrats for fleeing Biden: ‘Need to get a spine’ or ‘grow a set’
New York Post ^ | July 6, 2024 | Jon Levine

Sen. John Fetterman doubled down in his support of President Biden after his ABC interview Friday, condemning efforts by his fellow Democrats to shove the octogenarian commander-in-chief out of the race.

“Democrats need to get a spine or grow a set — one or the other. Joe Biden is our guy,” Fetterman said in a terse posting on X.

The terse comment reiterated the Pennsylvania ragamuffin as a ride-or-die for Biden, even as a growing number of elected Democrats moved to abandon him after his disastrous debate against Donald Trump last week.

“I’m unwilling to discard a great president, a decent man and a loving father after 50 years in public service, over a 90 minute debate,” Fetterman added before Biden’s do-or-die with anchor George Stephanopoulos. “Responding with disorder, panic and disloyalty is not meeting this moment.”

When the New York Times called on Biden to drop out of the race, Fetterman responded by posting “f–k that,” to his nearly 1 million followers.

“You knew what you signed up for, own it and stop being little bitches now that the goings tough.”

What we should be telling all whiney Dems.

“Someone suggested to me that Biden’s people would never have agreed to a September debate. The debate was now or never.”

Still better. Trump could spend the entire campaign season calling Biden CHICKEN for not debating - but we’re stuck with what we have...

Couldn't they just push the "out-of-an-abundance-of-caution" narrative, and claim that, while certainly not impaired, he's been feeling a "little tired" recently? You know:

"Last night, I was speed-reading War and Peace in the original Russian, while simultaneously solving the daily crossword puzzle of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and felt a little fatigued..."

Fetterman correctly sees that Biden will run stronger in PA than other Democrats. Scranton Joe has a unique draw in the battleground counties of Lackawanna and Luzerne. Furthermore, Biden polls best with old people. Go figure. Pennsylvania has lots of old people; more than most states. Throw him off the ballot, and a bunch of these people might stay home.

You can say whatever you want about Joe Biden but he won that debate in 2012 and Paul Ryan acted like a passive metrosexual.

Furthermore, Biden polls best with old people.

Seems odd - as that should be the demographic least likely to support his administration's radical transgender policies including prosecuting a doctor for alerting to the fact there were violations of law occurring in Texas regarding this. But, they are likely not aware of it. They are the demographic most likely to keep watching the evening news as they always have and are therefore more influenced by it than others, they are also the demographic Biden has since 2020 most heavily targeting with his campaign advertising - and on shows and networks watched more heavily this demographic - such as MeTV, AntennaTV, and other digital over the air subchannels.

Agree. Talked to two hardcore Democrats in the past 36 hours. Neither is really aware there’s a civil war going on in their party trying to replace their nominee. They are also unaware Biden is a drooling moron, meaning they probably have simply accepted his level of incapacity, and don’t care because they hate Trump so much. Both think it would be a big mistake to replace Biden, in it will increase Trump’s chances of winning. Oh, also, they both think the Democrats are winning the election.

My father, who was 90 when The World Ended, was a huge Trump supporter. He also loved Anthony Fauci, which frustrated me to no end. My very good friend explained that to me.. he said, “that’s just one old guy rooting for another old guy”. I’m sure he was exactly right. They don’t care about Biden’s policies. They just care he’s one of them.

Sorry chief. You don’t grow ‘em anymore. You go see a “doctor” and get an addadictomy.

Well the opinion here at the time was that Ryan won and Biden looked ridiculous, and the polls of those who viewed the debate also reflected the same at the time that Ryan won the debate, the focus groups, etc.

Here’s the live thread with our reactions and also the information on the polls, focus groups, etc. https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/2943561/replies?c=1083

Your opinion may be clouded by what Ryan has done and said since that time, but that moment occurred in its own time...not in what was the future at that time.

Joe Biden's alpha-male display leaves Paul Ryan overwhelmed in VP debate

Your analysis may be correct if the debate was heard over the radio.

In fact, they said the same thing about the Nixon-JFK debate. Everyone listening on the radio said that Nixon won the debate. But we all know that JFK won on the tv.

So it's obvious that Biden looked better on the screen.

Great post—the summer is notorious for being useless for political advertising.

Folks don’t start paying attention until the kids are back in school and in the northern areas of the country there is a little nip of cool air reminding everybody the leaves will begin to turn.

FWIW, a small sample size of 381 people in that poll.

I wish the sample size was larger. Like over 1,000.
