MADISON, Wis. (AP) — President Joe Biden, fighting to save his endangered reelection effort, used a highly anticipated TV interview Friday to repeatedly reject taking an independent medical evaluation that would show voters he is up for serving another term in office while blaming his disastrous debate performance on a “bad episode” and saying there were “no indications of any serious condition.”
Biden made it through the 22-minute interview without any major blunders that would inflict further damage to his imperiled candidacy, but it appeared unlikely to fully tamp down concerns about his age and fitness for another four years and his ability to defeat Donald Trump in November.
It left Biden in a standoff against a not-insignificant faction of his party with four months to go until Election Day, and with just weeks until the Democratic National Convention. The drawn-out spectacle could benefit Biden’s efforts to remain in the race by limiting the party’s options to replace him. But it also could be a distraction from vital efforts to frame the 2024 race as a referendum on Trump.
During the interview, Biden insisted he was not more frail than he was in 2020. He said he undergoes “ongoing assessment” by his personal doctors and they “don’t hesitate to tell me” if something is wrong.
“Can I run the 100 in 10 flat? No. But I’m still in good shape,” Biden said.
As for the debate, “I didn’t listen to my instincts in terms of preparing,” Biden said.
Biden suggested that Trump’s disruptions had flustered him: “I realized that, even when I was answering a question and they turned his mic off, he was still shouting and I let it distract me. I’m not blaming it on that. But I realized that I just wasn’t in control.”

Michael Jackson bought his own doctor. Does Brandon have chicom physicians?
Well other than :
" In a preview clip that aired on Friday's "World News Tonight," ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos pressed Biden on if he had comprehended how poorly he did in his face-off against former President Trump.
"Did you ever watch the debate afterwards?" Stephanopoulos asked.
After a brief pause, Biden replied, "I don't think I did, no."
That exchange quickly went viral. "Biden looks terrible and sounds terrible in the clip @ABC showed at 630… Oof. He doesn’t even remember if he watched the debate later. My god," CNN contributor Scott Jennings reacted. "Biden still looked bad and sounded confused in the excerpt ABC aired. Maybe not quite as bad as 8 days ago, but definitely nothing there that says ‘I got this,’" journalist Josh Barro wrote."
ABC and Stephy have been a lot tougher on the senile old pervert than I expected them to be. We just left ABC News on, and it’s the first time that I have seen a network newscast in many years. Wow. No wonder people are so stupid. Now, they are doing a segment on how “buy now, pay later” deals might bot be all that great for the consumer. We knew that 50 years ago from the lyrics to the Good Times theme song.
Have Biden take a Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a set of straightforward questions on a sheet of paper, administered by a neurologist from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, observed by the White House physician, and broadcast live on national TV.
OMG! He has lost AP, the NYT, the Washington Post and worst of all the Rolling Stone Magazine.🙄
Trump was shouting lol uh no he wasn’t maybe in Biden’s demented head he was
“Biden made it through the 22-minute interview without any major blunders that would inflict further damage to his imperiled candidacy”
complete bullshit from AP as usual:
‘I don’t think I did’: Biden says he can’t recall if he re-watched disastrous debate with Trump
President Joe Biden appeared to forget the name of new U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer - who he spoke with Friday by phone - during his 22-minute sit-down with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
For example, today, before I come out here, I’m on the phone with the - prime minister - well, anyway I shouldn’t get into detail - with Netanyahu, I’m on the phone with the new prime minister of England.’

The ABC News anchor and former Bill Clinton aide asked Biden if he really believed that polls - that show him losing to former President Donald Trump - are inaccurate.
‘I think - all the pollsters I talk to tell me it’s a toss-up, it’s a toss-up,’ Biden replied.
He then added, ‘I don’t buy that,’ when Stephanopoulos cited surveys that showed him losing the popular vote - which he won overwhelmingly four years ago - to Trump this time around.
‘I don’t think anyone’s more qualified to be president or win this race than me,’ the president argued.
Biden called Warner a ‘good man’ but then floated he had ulterior motives.
‘He also tried to get the nomination,’ the president said.
Warner did not run for president in 2020.
President Joe Biden flubbed the years of various elections for a second time Friday during his sit-down Friday with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
He noted the predicted ‘red wave’ - what was expected to happen in the 2022 midterm races.
But instead of accurately stating that year - he mentioned 2024 and 2020 - presidential election years.
I remember them telling me the same thing in 2020 - I can’t win, the polls show I can’t win - remember 2024, 2020, the red wave was coming, before the vote I said that’s not going to happen, we’re gonna win. We did better in an off-year than almost any incumbent president ever has done. They said it in 2023, all the tough races we’re not gonna win. I went into all those areas, all those districts and we won.’
Surprised he was asked about one.
If I were a dem this would be my bottom line, eval or no vote.
