President Joe Biden gave his first post-debate television interview to reassure Americans he could handle another four years in office-- but it turns out, it wasn't just one "bad night."
After a shaky debate performance against former President Donald Trump last week, Biden has faced an avalanche of pressure to drop out of the 2024 race, citing his cognitive decline.
Biden, who says he's staying in the race, has defied calls to drop out of the running, confident he will beat Trump.
The 81-year-old president agreed to a sit-down interview with CBS News’ George Stephanopoulos because he said he would not let a 90-minute debate overshadow all of his so-called “accomplishments” from the past three years.
Stephanopoulos asked Biden if his disastrous debate performance was a "bad episode or the sign of a more serious condition?”
Biden’s excuse? He was “exhausted.”
However, the host pushed back, pointing out that Biden had spent the entire week prior vacationing at Camp David.
“I just had a really bad cold!” The president claimed.

It is worth noting that Biden has spent more than 40 percent of his presidency on vacation and his days are similar to someone who works a cushiony 9-5.
Biden also blamed his troubling debate performance on jet lag. However, Stephanopoulos pointed out that he had over a week— 12 days to be exact— to recover.

On Friday, during a rally in Wisconsin, Biden pushed back against critics who say it’s time for him to pass the torch. Instead, the president declared he would “win again in 2020” as he bashed former President Donald Trump.
“What’s Joe going to do? Is he going to stay in the race? Is he going to drop out? What are you going to do?” Biden told the crowd. “Well, here’s my answer: I am running and I’m going to win again.”

my feeling was that George’s relentless questions (which every last one related to biden’s fitness) were designed to either make or break biden as a viable candidate, and it’s pretty clear that biden’s responses broke him as a viable candidate once and for all ...
now, the Democrats are basically F-ed no matter what they do now, and they know it ... biden totally dug in regarding staying in the race tonight: the more George pushed him, the more intransigent Joe became about staying in the race ...
so, short of a fatal (or near fatal) “accident”, the Dems are either going to have to accept joe as their candidate or try to blast him out of office with the 25th Amendment, likely requiring the help of Republicans in Congress if such Republican help is even possible ... and worse, the Dems would likely be in an even bigger mess with Kamala as Prez and/or their candidate ...
first, kamala is an extremely unlikable moron, and second, trying to substitute kamala for joe on the ballots in all 50 states might very well be impossible anyway ...

Yes, it’s interesting to watch this unfold. (”May you live in interesting times!” and all that.)
It’s also intellectually stimulating (dare I say “fun”?) to scenario-build.
The problem is, there’s a yuge amount of data uncertainty that appears in our scenario building as data CERTAINTY. For example, your comment “from recent reports, the staff hate Joe”. Certainly plausible, but how the hell can I evaluate its accuracy? And is the staff a monolithic bloc?
I simply can’t take such things as “given” and do calculus on them when ALL of the players, including the “reporting function”, are known to be dodgy agenda-driven liars. I can’t know who is being played by whom. But I believe in my heart that there is a whole lotta “playin’” going on.
And then, while we’re analyzing this in the physical realm, there’s that whole metaphysical (spiritual) realm going on around us. I believe the metaphysical component is not only present, but in the end it’s all-powerful. The LORD is on the throne, in other words! That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
