If it were the 1990s, Joe Biden’s primetime interview Friday with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos would be a ratings monster. There would be no Netflix, Hulu or PlayStation to compete with it.
What’s more, Biden’s performance would be dispositive, either dooming his candidacy or resuscitating it — that’s how much power the mainstream media once had.
In my estimation, doom is much more likely, regardless of how many credulous Americans tune in to the spectacle. Indeed, this interview strikes me as a no-win proposition for Biden...

Agreed. I have no respect for him whatsoever but he is a former high-level Clinton flunky and a seasoned media figurine. Therefore he probably knows a hopelessly incompetent candidate when he sees one (2016 taught him something, too). Also, the Clintons are in their twilight, but GS is younger and has some years ahead of him in which to “succeed” in his field. I don’t think he can afford to be this year’s Baghdad Bob, for Biden’s sake. Risking his credibility in the msm for an enfeebled, confused man who can’t possibly go another 4 years.
The trend is to admit Biden’s hopeless and Harris inevitable. GS should be able to discern a trend in politics.
Nor has he any personal loyalty to Bidens — far as I know.
So he could go out on a limb, be a propaganda hack here, or play the intrepid whistleblowing reporter a la Woodward/Bernstein (in the eyes of his ilk). Seems an easy choice.

Don’t know who the “someone more viable” in the Democrat party would be, but Biden himself is not viable in my opinion.

If Snuffleupagus’ interview was intended to save Biden, God help poor Dementia Joe if S. had aimed to torpedo him. S gave him the rope to hang himself. The NY Post got it right, I think. This wasn’t so much an interview as an intervention... an attempt by the Democrat machine to somewhat gently inform the poor old coot that it’s over form.
