Russia Sees That Ukraine Not Ready to Reject Waging War Until the End - Putin

We can see that Kiev is not ready to give up waging war until the end, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a statement to the press after holding talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"The way we see the situation, including what the prime minister said today, Kiev is still not ready to give up waging the war until the ‘victorious’ end," the president told the press.

Putin added that implementing Russia’s peace initiatives would allow the cessation of hostilities and the start of the negotiation process.

"Our [Russia's] peace initiatives have been recently presented at my meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. We believe that its implementation would make it possible to cease the hostilities and start negotiations," he noted.

Russia stands for completely ending the conflict in Ukraine, and not for a ceasefire or a pause so the Kiev regime can rearm itself, Putin emphasized.

"It should not just be a truce or a temporary cease-fire, not some kind of pause that the Kiev regime could use to recover losses, regroup and rearm itself. Russia stands for a full and final end to the conflict," he said.

According to Putin, Kiev is rejecting the ceasefire proposals because they will lose the pretext for extending the martial law. Ukraine will have to hold a presidential election in the absence of the martial law, and the current rulers will have a low chance for reelection, Putin said.

The Russian president shared that he had discussed possible ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict with Prime Minister Orban and that Orban had told him about the details of his recent visit to Kiev.

"There was certainly a fairly direct and thorough exchange of views on relevant international issues, including the Ukrainian conflict, and.....

Ending a war on the invader’s terms is never a good thing.

AS long as the top politicians are still getting cash it will continue. Cut off the cash and it stops.

Putin has demanded complete surrender of Ukraine, BEFORE commencing any "peace talks".

Ukraine must retreat from four provinces, de-militarize, de-nazify, drop NATO ambitions and for the West to remove all sanctions.

President Vladimir Putin said on Friday Russia would end the war in Ukraine only if Kyiv agreed to drop its NATO ambitions and hand over the entirety of four provinces claimed by Moscow, demands Kyiv swiftly rejected as tantamount to surrender.

On the eve of a conference in Switzerland to which Russia has not been invited, Putin set out maximalist conditions at odds with the terms demanded by Ukraine, apparently reflecting Moscow's growing confidence that its forces have the upper hand in the war.

He restated his demand for Ukraine's demilitarisation, unchanged from the day he sent in his troops on Feb. 24, 2022, and said an end to Western sanctions must also be part of a peace deal.

He also repeated his call for Ukraine's "denazification", based on what Kyiv calls an slur against its leadership.

Yeah, it is called losing a war. Have you heard about how most wars end?

Neocons ate a lot of paint chips as kids.

Russia has been playing softball with Ukraine. They may have to change tactics to end this.

I read where we are orchestrating bombing attacks (drones) on Russian territory. Given this, and our cutting the Norm Stream pipeline it seems like we are pushing closer to WW3 than any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis, perhaps even closer.

The problem is that, even if the war ended today, Russia would not be able to rebuild the infrastructure that they have destroyed, in particular, Ukraine’s energy production sector. The war has taken Ukraine from a functioning kleptocracy to a non-functioning, international welfare sponge. Ukraine had little before the war. Now it has less than nothing. That is what the Russians will inherit when the war is declared over.

That was also my first thought. That plus defense contractors wanting the war to continue.

Good assessment. Even most of the Zeepers here have given up on trying to claim that Russia would blow up their own pipeline (considering that they obviously have ‘valves’). As to the attacks, they are only possible with very detailed intelligence, including not only where the targets are, but where the defenses are and how to get around them. Obviously Ukraine is blind in that regard, so they’re definitely getting a lot of help, and I really doubt it’s Russia, or China, giving them that data...and, therefore, only one other entity.
