Over the years I have noted more than one Rockport Freeper.
Friend who stayed at our place for Harvey started out in the house then when wind got really bad moved to garage/mother-in-law room actually built stronger than house. He said live oaks of 10-12 inches snapping sounded like cannon going off. None hit house or garage by some great bit of luck or God.

Because of the Fourth, I hear that there are a lot of “visitors” there. I guess they will leave tomorrow.

Yeah, the Wendell family puts on a wonderful fireworks display in the bay. They've been sponsoring it since 1965, always a blast. Lots of folk will get out of dodge tomorrow. On a side not, a Washington post freelance photographer stopped by and took some photos of the house because I had a few boards up. No, I didn't yell fake news, but I was tempted.

It just dawned on me--Rockport was the home of the resilient Blue Shed.

Latest update says Matagorda. Tomorrow, it may be Galveston. Ha.

Have friends in Corpus and the Port Isabel area. As of now, they say they are staying put. But, S Texans are tough. They said they’ll head inland if it’s more than a Cat 2… as they have elderly parents to look after.

As of Saturday night, Beryl was about 330 miles (535 kilometers) southeast of Corpus Christi and had top sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph), according to the National Hurricane Center. It was moving northwest at 13 mph (20 kph).

Sargent to San Luis Pass.

A Hurricane Watch has been extended along the Texas coast north of
San Luis Pass to Galveston Island.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued east of High Island to
Sabine Pass.

Beryl has looked ragged since entering the GOM. However, there is some increased convection firing up with enhanced outflow in the SE quadrant. Time will tell whether Beryl regains hurricane status before landfall.

Hurricane Warning is extended almost to Galveston Bay. You should expect TS winds by this afternoon.
