Morning Freepers,

Nigel Farage has been elected to the UK Parliament and takes 3 pals with him.

May sound small but it's pretty big and a foot in the door. You'll all see soon what impact they can make.

Farage says this is just the start and is looking towards the next 5 years.

Could you explain further? I do not understand the convoluted workings of U.S. government or the ideologies of their parties. They always seem misnamed to me.

Reform party which Nigel Farage leads won 4 seats/districts and have a presence in the UK Parliament

Does not seem a lot but they can make an outsized impact (in my opinion).

You’ll see in due course is what I’m saying.

It’s not easy to pull this off but he did it.

From another FReeper:
>>
The Tory party is what the Republican party would be but for Trump/MAGA.

ie the Tories are a corrupt, feckless, gutless bunch of corporate whores who don’t give a damn about the UK, hold the average Brit in contempt and are Gaia Worshiping, open borders, Globalist scum.

The British public is done with them. This election will be an extinction level event for them - and its high time. Farage is Britain’s Trump. He is the antidote to the betrayal of right leaning voters by the people who claimed to represent them.

Several hecklers targeting Farage Press conference.

Farage is in jubilant mood as he dismisses them.

That would be an effective strategy if we had a parliamentary system.

FARAGE (some notes):

“We got millions of votes within short notice”

“We have a bridgehead is Parliament”

“Now we have 4 seats.. We might have FIVE (recount under-way in said district)”

“The First Past The Post electoral system is not fit for purpose. We will campaign against this system”.

“There is no enthusiasm for Starmer’s Labour Party whatsoever”

“We’re going to be the opposition, maybe not in Parliament but around the country”

“We’ll make the party professional”

“My aim and ambition is to create a mass movement across this country.. We have the energy.”

Yup. The Democrat and Republican parties are both corrupt as all get out. Not to say that a new party wouldn’t turn into the same thing, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a strong 3rd party develop.

Lee Anderson MP described as plain speaking political bruiser and one of Farage’s cohorts:

“Expect fireworks. We will kick some ass next week.”

Rupert Lowe MP (another cohort):

“We started our campaign on May 10 and here we are.

“Labour have no mandate. They got less votes than in 2019.

“What we’ve managed is seismic.

“The BBC didn’t even mention us for the first hour!

Our promise is to defund the BBC”

Farage tells a US reporter what they did was remarkable:

“Try winning seats in the House of Reps if you’re not GOP or a Dem.

It’s virtually impossible.

Well, that’s what we have achieved”

Lee Anderson MP just said something interesting.

“In London on certain occasions the streets have been taken over by a group of people who don’t like our way of life (Muslims or Islamicists he said)

“I kind of feel vindicated (after last night)”

Farage:

“In France I have believed for some time Marine Le Pen will be the next President.

The Extreme Left in France dont appeal to me. Le Pen’s party I dont agree with them economically but I do agree with their sentiment on culture and country.. The no-go zones, etc. Some of their policies go further than I would but I would prefer that they win than the Extreme Left.”

I was following the lead up to this and wondered how this played out. Headlines say Labour got a near historic number of seats but understand the Conservatives are CINOs. So I’m glad this is a good outcome, foot-in-the-door, for the Reform party.

Labour got 34% of the vote but a huge majority

Quirk of the voting system. It sucks and will change I’m confident that there will be a debate on this too many are talking about it now

The Conservative Party got a kicking because of Reform Party in a number of districts (I think the number is 100 or so where it was consequential)

Nigel Farage says they sucked anyway and let in too many immigrants.

Good riddance is his attitude. He is building a new party he says.
