WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Thursday opened a critical stretch in his effort to salvage his imperiled reelection campaign, facing a growing sense that he may have just days to make a persuasive case that he is fit for office before Democratic support for him completely evaporates.

The president is scheduled to campaign in Wisconsin on Friday and sit for an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that will air as a prime-time special that night.
He plans to be in Philadelphia on Sunday and hold a full news conference during the NATO summit in Washington next week.
It is not a given that his campaign will survive even that long if he does not deliver a strong showing on ABC. Discussions that were once a whisper around who should step into his place should he bow out are growing louder.
For now, Biden is not ready to walk away and he has communicated that in conversations with Democratic governors, close allies and staffers from his campaign.
But time is short for a possible change. The Democratic National Committee announced weeks ago that it would hold a virtual roll call for a formal nomination before the party’s national convention, which begins Aug. 19.

The campaign was Biden/Harris 2024, not Biden/someone we want 2024.
She won’t win but maybe she can find a more useful job than VP, which is a pretty useless job.
I’m just afraid they are handing Trump and the GOP a ticking debt time bomb.

pretty much EVERYONE knows flat out the the ABC “interview” is a hoax as it will NOT be live, and it will be extremely heavily edited ...plus ABC has already announced that the raw interview tapes will NOT be released ...
clearly ABC and Stephanopoulos will simply be producing nothing more than massive amounts of gaslighting in an attempt to prop up Joe ... and i say, MORE POWER TO ABC! DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP JOE IN THE CAMPAIGN AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!
I’m not sure about that. I think the media has turned on Joe. There is nothing or no one they hate more than Trump, and I think they’ve realized that after years of propping up Joe, the edifice has collapsed. And can’t be built back again.
I think they want him gone. And maybe Stephanopoulos got the task of taking him out for good (he used to work for the Clintons after all).
The bar is being raised very high by . . . probably the GOPe.
They want a stronger opponent for Trump.
But Biden has no reason to quit. He has all that money. He has a full schedule, and he has a staff filling his ears with talk of “just a bad night and you beat him last time”.
We don’t need for him to have a great interview. We just need him to be mediocre. Weather the storm. Have time pass.
Trump will maintain his 3ish% lead and it will be what it has been for months. In fact, when some pollster who measured 2%, or even a 1% Biden lead, reports a 3% Trump lead, the media will fill with talk of a Biden surge, cutting Trump’s lead in half.
Keep the clock ticking. And someone tell Trump all he has to do is talk about the Wall and the Swamp and shut off all things provocative.
His lead at 2% is enormous, because it was -7% in 2020 and only lost by a few 10s of K votes in battlegrounds.
But the key to it all is to keep Biden in. If you get polled, tell them you are voting Biden.

Since the debate, Harris, Newsome and Biden all took insane amounts of bets at differing times.
President Trump’s odds barely budged.
The implication is that the bettors are valuing all the Dems chances of winning vs him similarly.
IMO the ultimate implication is President Trump vs the cheat.
It’s not 3%ish. He is a solid $1.80 to win $1.00 betting fav-that is 60% plus.
Otherwise keep up the good work. I find your replies interesting and thought provoking even though we rarely agree.
I have wondered why so many have turned on Trump - I’ve figured it’s because they can’t handle his real world blunt results oriented style which is so different from the mutual back scratching that is part of getting anything done in government. But...I don’t know.
Also DJT doesn’t have a lot of filters when he wants to say something ....out it comes whether the minions like it or not.
