NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Manhattan district attorney's office said Tuesday it would not oppose former President Trump's request to file a motion arguing his conviction should be tossed, a move that will almost certainly delay Trump's sentencing, which is currently set for July 11. "Although we believe defendant's arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion," assistant district attorney Josh Steinglass wrote in a letter to Judge Juan Merchan.

What are the odds that the judge will back down after all this?
They see the problem with their entire sham trial and are keenly aware of public sentiment.

Although the Manhattan case does not center on Mr. Trump’s presidency or official acts — but rather personal activity during his campaign — his lawyers argued on Monday that prosecutors had built their case partly on evidence from his time in the White House. And under the Supreme Court’s new ruling, prosecutors not only cannot charge a president for any official acts, but also cannot cite evidence involving official acts to bolster other accusations.
That suggests to me, a NEW TRIAL is required
I don’t read much into it. It isn’t a wild request, and a denial would probably be tangled over.

And are trying to figure out how to make the conviction stick, despite the unconstitutionality of the whole trial.
IF, the judge was competent, he would throw this case out and dismiss it now.
the judge is going to proceed with the sentencing, so no reason to worry about a dismissal.

Sounds like they are getting cold feet. They have the conviction on the books for the Biden campaign to use through the election and don’t really care if he is sentenced before the election or the conviction is reversed after the election. It will indeed be reversed on appeal after the election
They are passing the buck. If he doesn’t do it, they have to make a decision to put him in prison or not.
Yup, the liberals are just starting to figure out that
everything they do to try to bury Trump, it just makes
him & his support stronger.
Perhaps they see this is their easy out…..
