Vice President Kamala Harris has never been closer to the presidency after Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance sent Democratic elites into a tailspin about their chances in the 2024 election.
As the vice president of the United States, Harris is the natural successor of the presidency if Biden steps down. But for years, Democrats have criticized Harris’ performance and feel she should not take over for Biden before the election.
One well-connected Democrat told DailyMail.com after the debate that the choice was between an ‘obviously broken Biden’ or Harris, describing the vice president as ‘extremely disliked’ and a ‘terrible’ politician.
‘I think I’d have a better shot with Biden,’ he said.
One Washington, DC political operative described to DailyMail.com the mood of Democrats on Friday morning.
‘Everybody’s going to try to resurrect Joe Biden today, but after that debate performance, Jesus Christ couldn’t be resurrected,’ he said.
He described the 'Kamala conundrum' as a result of Biden and Democrats playing the 'dangerous game' of identity politics to boost their numbers with the black community.
'She could be great for the base right?' he said. 'But you still need independent voters who just don't have confidence in her.'
Other Democrats conceded that Biden did not have a good night, but the party is not ready to replace him with Harris.

They may promise Kamala that she will be the next governor of California in exchange for her quietly stepping down as the VP candidate. Then Newsom can be the presidential candidate with a different VP.
NOTHING says “hebephrenic schizophrenia” (aka disorganized schizophrenia) with frequent decompensation under stress like Kamala’s pseudophilosophical nonsensical musings, WORD SALAD (pathognomonic for schizophrenia), and hyena-like inappropriate laughter.
Well, nothing except the DSM-5, that is.
She won’t last a month and the “lids” on her public showings outside the safety/security/media blackout of the WH would be legendary making Pedo Joe’s daily “lids” 2-5 hours after sunrise look like blinks of the eye..
Democrats electors listed as unpledged
Sorry, but I just don’t think she’s electable, and too many failed policies for any dem to run successfully. I sure hope I’m right, or this country is done for.
They’ve got a real problem with Kamala and they know it. The whole world has now seen just how far Joe has deteriorated both mentally and physically. However, putting Kamala in as their nominee would be equally disastrous. What they could do is make a deal with her where Joe steps down, and she finishes out the term. The DNC then pays Kamala a boatload of money under the table in exchange for her announcement that she will finish out the term, but not seek the nomination. She gets to go down in history as the first female president, and the DNC can avoid blame for dumping her from the ticket. They’ve propped up Biden for 3 1/2 years, they can prop up Kamala for a few months.
One thing for sure. Whether Biden withdraws or whether forced off the ticket, Biden will pardon Hunter, not only on the gun conviction, but, more importantly, on the tax fraud charge that may implicate him and his entire family and which goes to trial in a few weeks. The pardon will prevent the trial from happening. The Big Guy is cognizant enough to even go so far as to pardon Hunter’s similarly charged business associates for the very same reason
Worse she’s 50% Hindu and not Black at all even on her father’s side. Many Blacks know this and despise her masquerade.
Though I agree, they got the potted plant “elected”. Much has been made of xidens “performance” at the debate, but even back in 2020 he was only marginally better and that was discounted in the goal to beat the bad orange man
