Board of Supervisors meeting the Board decided In a 3-2 vote to terminate Shasta County's contract with Dominion Voting Systems after next month’s special election in the city of Shasta Lake. The term of the contract was set to run through December 31, 2025.
The Board majority emphasized that “You can’t put a price tag on voter trust”. Acting CEO Patrick Minturn says it will likely cost at least $1 million to bring in a new electronic voting system and train employees.
Implementation of a new voting system will begin immediately to adequately prepare for upcoming elections. Finding any vendor to provide services is governed by Title 3 of the Shasta County Code, and further at the discretion of the Board of Supervisors, the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters, and competitive procurement processes.
The RFQ/RFP process for a new voting system can be lengthy; however, the choices of state approved vendors in California are limited. This may allow the department to move quickly through the process. Per the California Secretary of State, and California Elections Code 19202, the only other two voting systems certified for use in California are from Hart InterCivic, and Election Systems and Software (ES&S).

AS Of 2022: 180,930. NOT all are registered to vote.
THERE IS NO REASON THAT THAT MANY BALLOTS CANNOT BE COUNTED BY HAND.
