The Dems Can’t Make Biden Leave If He Won’t Go. They're stuck.

The Democrats had plenty of time to edge Biden out. Despite all the talk, no one seriously tried to do it.

Now they’re stuck.

The DNC rigged the primaries for Biden. He’s the nominee. There are possible convention challenges, but they’re a longshot because the power behind Joe Biden isn’t Jill Biden (many seem to think that a D of Ed community college talent is the Machiavelli here), but a network of political careerists who are using him and who in traditional fashion control the DNC. They’d have to be dealt in or crushed and the whole show would further wreck the party’s standing. It’s an open question if the Dems suffer worse with Biden on the ballot or a divisive convention fight that splits the party. Any talk of a 25th Amendment would be the same problem x 10.

Can the Dems get Biden out?

It’s possible. But it would require a rapid concerted effort to inform Biden that he can’t run again and has to announce that he will drop out for health reasons (and maybe to be there for Hunter and his family.)

That means Obama, Hillary and every influential party figure staging an intervention, it means informing key DNC people that unless they switch sides, they will be blacklisted, and making it clear that there is no longer an option in which Biden is the candidate.

Can this happen? Yes. But it would require getting everyone on board. And that would be a challenge (but much less than it would have been last week).

And yet at the end of the day, Biden can (and very well might) tell them to all go to hell. Obama was able to persuade Biden not to run in 2016. He may be less persuadable now. That leaves few good options.

If Biden were to pass away...."

Then the Demonicrats will be saddled with the idiotic and unliked Kamalamadingdong.

How can the D.E.I.-propagandizing Demonicrats refuse to let Kamalamadingdong be the 2024 candidate and, instead, support some white guy like Galvin Newscum (who's also not well-liked by humans).

If they do that, Kamala is the president and then how could they possibly not give the nomination to the sitting president?

Hi central_va!! I’m in south-western VA myself. When Biden started talking of disarming/removing automatic weapons from gun owners, our sheriff and others in the area stated they would never (a) take guns from law abiding citizens or (b) put their own officers in harm’s way which that situation would certainly mean in the vast majority of those attempts.

Not many military or police would be willing to force Marshall Law on the law abiding in rural areas. Now, in larger cities (such as those where riots rages during the Black Lives Matter fiasco) likely they’d try, but we all know it would cause more chaos than order.

If they use the 25th amendment or kill him, then Heels up Harris is the president.

Can they then deny the nomination to the sitting president who is also the first female president AND the first woman “of color” in the office? They couldn’t possibly do that without royally pissing off a huge swath of their voters.

and no, Kamala is not going to go willingly any more than Joe will. The second she steps down, her political career is over and she knows it. So there’s no get rid of her and then slide Hilary Clinton or Gavin Newsome or whomever in as VP then get rid of Biden.

This time Joe’s not hiding in the basement. The untruthful Democrats now have to deal with the reality of Dementia Joe to the electorate. DJ has been fully exposed.

“she’s both incredibly stupid and extremely unlikeable”

Thanks for the laugh. Sadly, the vast majority of Biden’s appointees carry that title as well.

They can just tell him the election is over and he lost. How would he know differently? ;>)

I personally hope that FJB remains the candidate in November, but the behind-the-scenes government might not want that.

The "Behind the Scenes" government may not be a monolith, and the constituent pieces may not be able to agree on a replacement. They also may not have come up with a plausible way to dispatch an unwilling Jill Biden. It appears that NOBODY wants to deal with Kamala Harris.

I’m no expert in these matters, but won’t he be the nominee only when nominated at convention?

They can certainly reach accord, Dems generally think like schools of fish.

The only people who might be difficult to sway are Jill and Joe Biden, plus Kamala Harris, who is also not yet nominated.

Harris is understandably upset that she might have to work for the nomination, and Jill Biden is probably determined not to hand her the reins.

So the fate of the world may rest on the outcome of a catfight over a pitiful old devil.

I’m with Macbeth: “If it were done when ‘tis done, then ‘twere well it were done quickly.”

“How hard would it be to buy off Jill?”

Very, I suspect. She’s rather fond of being Empress Agrippina.

I agree with you on most points.

The Biden campaign staff is making a lot of personal money off of the campaign (that's what campaign consultants do), and if Biden drops out there is no guarantee that they would be kept on in the replacement campaign. Biden is their goose that's laying the golden eggs, and they wouldn't do anything to stop that.

I also think that the Biden White House staff serves at the pleasure of Biden, they don't serve Harris. If Biden were to go all-out and step down as President, then his White House staff is likely to be shown the door with him and Harris will install her own people. This might include some Cabinet people, too, even if it's the last six months of the term. So the White House staff has a vested interest in keeping Biden around.

If there were one thing that was "planned," it might be the early scheduling of the debate, but for a different reason. It's possible that the Biden campaign felt that sooner was better than later because they knew Biden would only get worse, and they would find some excuse after the first debate to get out of the September debate, blaming something that Trump said or did during the debate, or what happens during sentencing next week, or if Jack Smith advances one of this cases, or something.

If/when the Soros gang gives 0bamas gang the orders to drop Joe, he’ll be dropped. One way or the other.

The intel agencies would only need to remind his caregiver that as they helped get him into office, they maintain the right to help him leave.

There are those who believe the dem power brokers know where Joe buried the bodies and could pressure/blackmail him to drop out. This may be true but it's probably equally true that Biden knows where his comrades have buried bodies and could threaten/expose them if they threaten him. Thoughts?

The speaker has very little to do with the process. The way it would work is this:

Harris and a majority of the Cabinet would have to agree to implement the 25th Amendment. They would then have to send a letter to the speaker and the president pro tempore of the Senate informing them that the president is unable to perform the duties of his office. Harris would then become acting President.

Next, Biden would send a letter to the speaker and president pro tem saying he was able to perform the duties of his office, and would immediately resume his his office.

Harris and the Cabinet would have to send another letter to Congress saying Biden was unable to perform the duties of his office. Harris would again become acting president.

Congress would then be required to convene within 4 days for the purpose of settling the matter. They would have only 21 days from the date they receive the second letter from Harris to issue a decision. If 2/3 of each house of Congress do not agree that Biden cannot perform the duties of the office, he resumes his role as president.
