CLAIM: President Biden and his fellow Democrats claim crime is down based on an FBI report.
VERDICT: False. Biden and his fellow Democrats do not mention that thousands of police precincts are not reporting crime data to the FBI.
On June 11, 2024, Biden told an Everytown for Gun Safety gun control gathering:
You know, the year before I came to the presidency, the murder rate was the highest increase on record. Last year, we saw the largest decrease of murder in the history of (inaudible). (Applause.) And those rates are continuing to fall faster than ever. Last year, we also saw one of the lowest rates of all violent crime in nearly 50 years. Murder, rape, aggravated assault, robbery all dropped sharply, along with burglary and property crime.
He did not mention that 2021 and 2022 witnessed a decline in crime reports from police precincts around the country.

Yes, most major cities are not reporting to the FBI, but this was true last year as well. So year-over-year comparisons are fair.
The crime rate for the reported jurisdictions are down from last year, but the overall crime rate is still much higher than pre-COVID/pre-BLM days.
And another factor that plays into lowered crime rates is also lowered crime charging. Many crimes are being dropped by Soros DAs. (But then most of the Soros DAs work in cities that aren't reporting crime to the FBI anyway.)
This is more than likely a set up for taterhead to use it in the debate......and if thats the case, Trumps answer better be “tell that to the families of the women raped and murdered by illegal aliens”....that kills 2 birds with one stone.
Back to an election year.

Earlier this year the Pittsburgh Police announced that they will no longer respond to a whole list of crimes. So if you are a victim of one of these crimes, you are told to just call and report it. You’ll get a report number, and that’s it.
How long before folks catch on, and don’t even bother calling?
Then poof! Crime goes down in the great Democrat-run city of Pittsburgh.
“Crime” is down because the multitude of POS Soro-backed DA’s have not been arresting and indicting the scumbag criminals; if they did athe actual crime numbers would be through the roof...
I recently ran into an old friend that I didn’t realize had gone totally lefty.
He claimed that the right ignores the “facts”. He then proceeded to spout statistics that proved his point. I told him that all statistics could be manipulated. I pointed out the under reporting of crimes and also time when a gun was used to prevent a crime.
His response? “I don’t believe that is true.”

I used to use the FBI Crime Statistics Database quite frequently, but I heard that where formerly, 90% of the localities that submitted data (it is voluntary) that number is now around 60%, so...I don’t bother with it anymore.
I have no doubt the police departments have been taken over by Leftists, and they certainly discourage submissions because they view the data as racist.
Think about that. Factual data is viewed as racist.
