Follow the money: Putin blew the pipeline to create a Force Majur to reset NG contracts so Russia could benefit from higher NG rates following the UKR invasion. It didn’t hurt Russia as Russia has many pipelines to countries which can trans ship to Europe. It just needed to create a lack of supply beyond contracted delivery agreements to spike the rates - which blowing the pipeline accomplished.
