Idaho librarian June Meissner was closing up for the day at the downtown Boise Public Library when a man approached her asking for help.
As an information services librarian, answering patrons’ questions is part of Meissner’s day-to-day work, and serving the community is one of her favorite parts of the job.
But when the man got close enough, “he took a swing at me and tried to punch me in the head,” said Meissner, a transgender woman. “I blocked it and he started yelling slurs and suggesting that he was going to come back and kill me.”

That’s right, Meissner is just a mentally challenged man pretending to be female.
Probably time to shut down public libraries altogether. We have done without bookstores for a while now. Guess we could just have books sent to us on loan after ordering online.

Downstairs, the Asian kids sit quietly around the periphery, utilizing their laptops and the free WiFi, diligently working on their studies. The large collection of library computers are chock full of non-Asian minorities playing on social media.
The non-fiction collections have changed mightily over the years. Check out the history sections, dominated by tales of oppression of racial minorities.
Might as well shut it down.
I agree. Get rid of the public libraries and the public schools once and for all.

I know a town where the town objected to all the gay flags at the library.
They took them down and hired a trans librarian. No one goes there anymore.
In towns libraries are funded because of traffic and books loaned. Traffic consists of new and repeat.
Libraries are starting to fudge numbers. Time to set up trail cameras to get actual nu.bers of people served beyond the library committee.
Time to start making g noise about how libraries have outlived their usefulness and need to be converted to a town venue or community center.

In the early days of Internet I remember the main Librarian organization viciously PROTESTING against conservatives who wanted to put in Internet Filters to protect children.
Since then NOTHING has changed my mind that librarians are just as evil as public school teachers are these days.

I was a librarian for 30+ years and got attacked several times. Once, while I ran a prison library, and, twice in a public library.
One time for telling a customer she couldn’t use her cell phone (back when we could tell people that), and, the other, an autistic kid who was “going to look at porn” and when I wouldn’t let him, he took a swing at me. I grabbed him by the throat and picked him up and them him on the ground, where a couple of other customers sat on him while I called the police.
It happens, but, I seriously doubt this one did.
People have more control over closing down libraries.

I’m TOTALLY COOL with prison libraries and I suspect that the inmates loved you for what you were doing.
Assuming it was an adult prison (probably a safe assumption), then the concept of Grooming doesn’t exist in that environment and what you did there very likely changed many lives. Being unable, or struggling to read, is probably the biggest handicap in getting otherwise decent people to join society that I can think of. What you did was INCREDIBLE, at least in my book.

In the Age of The Internet, Kindle, IPads, Ear Buds, etc. libraries are an anachronism.
A relic of a by-gone age that's a needless expense to the taxpayer.
