At the height of the American war machine’s realization that China controls nearly all of its raw materials, two new developments in Europe now suggest that the West has a fighting chance to secure critical metals for the future: A major discovery in Norway, and a potentially game-changing acquisition in Greenland.
In mid-June, Norwegian mining company Rare Earths Norway unveiled one of the largest deposits of rare earth elements in Europe in the Fen Carbonatite Complex in the country’s south. That discovery followed a vote in Norwegian parliament that paved the way for offshore, deep-sea mining of rare minerals in the country’s remote northern waters, Fortune magazine reported, making this the first country in Europe to allow such seabed mining activities. At the same time, Critical Metals Corp announced an acquisition deal for what it believes is the largest critical metals deposit in the world, in Greenland.
On June 10, Critical Metals Corp signed an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Greenland’s Tanbreez project, which it says is the largest rare earth deposit in the world. Once operational, CRML expects it to supply Europe and North America. And on June 18 the company announced it had completed its initial investment for the Tanbreez acquisition, lending more confidence to the deal and further de-risking the transaction, according to a company press release.
Tanbreez is said to have over 28 million tonnes of total rare earth oxides, the company estimates internally, and nearly 30% of that is the most coveted “heavy” rare earth elements (HREE).

Sounds like an Archer Daniels Midland commercial from a bit back.
I’ll bet some enterprising politician could sell the mining rights to a foreign nation in return for some cold hard cash.
Mine them wherever you want. Will probably still send them to China for all that toxic processing.
There will be some “environmental” reason why it can’t be developed, at least with Democrats in charge.
democrats block all new mining and drilling here in the USA and are trying to shutdown existing mines and oil and gas wells.
These are not in the US. They are in Greenland which belongs to Denmark.............
I know that but we have the same minerals here and the democrats are blocking everything that would help our nation. The socialists in europe will do the same thing there.
Then there are hundreds of other models that when combined dwarfs the sales of your electric car.
What car do you have?
Based on several recent discoveries, the US has quite large rare earth element deposits. Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, and probably much more laying undiscovered. We also have massive lithium deposits. Getting through the red tape and enviro-whackos is the challenge. What we need is a leader willing and able to break through all obstacles. One of the two candidates for POTUS might just be up to the challenge, or at least up for the fight.

Lots of rare earth and EV minerals in northern Minnesota just waiting to be dug up. I imagine they will be waiting many years, if ever.
In the article they mention how bad the mines are in Indonesia. If these environmentalists actually cared about “mother earth” they would push for mining in America where we actually have rules and the companies are examined closely to follow them. (Worker safety rules too.)
Go Norway!!! They have some headwinds in their future as gasoline products get replaced by electricity.

Paid off long ago and will last a long time.
Engine runs so clean I could practically breath from the tailpipe.
