My dad also taught us to drink it black. He told us we might be out on a military patrol or forest fire fighting crew someday “and there won’t be any *** **** cream and sugar! Learn to drink it black!” He had stories of being on patrol in Germany right after the war and boiling water in bucket, dumping in the coffee, then cold water to settle the grounds.
Me too- I’ve always preferred it black- nothing added. On a really hot summer day I might drink a glass of iced coffee and add a splash of cream. Everyone in my family drinks black coffee- but friends usually drink hot coffee ice cream- loaded with sugar and weird flavored cream things lol. It seems I read black coffee is “healthier” than with added stuff. I drink a cup at home and one at work each day.
